Good trade. Always liked Camby.

Interesting question posed by this thread's argument - the 'tank for lottery' vs. 'remain competitive but ultimately out of the picture' strategies.

Roughly speaking and assuming your team is actually competitive (and thus finishes with a reasonable record), would the odds of being drawn in the lottery be greater than the odds of your competitive team catching fire/getting a good matchup/whatever and bucking the odds to beat a higher ranked team? Hard to say either way (which itself suggests the answer btw. All things being unresolved, at least with the 2nd strategy you get to cheer for your team in the playoffs).

Still, the overall package that is the Rockets has been below the threshold of 'satisfactory' the last few seasons - mainly cause they haven't made the playoffs. I like their chances this season tho'. So I like this trade. We increase our po chances, we give up little, and we have some fun watching the matchup possibilities in the last week or so as well as the actual po series itself.

We're going to need Camby and Dalembert against the Lakers....they're gonna get alot of minutes...i hope Martin is at least back....we only have 9 players on our roster now right?

for years i always thought camby would end up a rocket. it happened at the climax of his career but it did happen. Its a good pick up, solid 7 foot veteran. he is solid defensively and from last season even though i liked hayes, we go from the shortest starting center in the league at 6'6 to two solid 7 foot big men at center, not bad. It should really help us in the playoffs.

what are our chances of keeping camby? i know he keeps saying the right thing since he is from pearland and wants to retire here, but is he willing to take just the vet. min($1.6mil) especially when other contenders start calling? i'm a bit concerned.

i think we have a great chance at keeping camby

what contenders would pay camby a lotta money at this stage in his career, with the new cba? camby got enough big contracts. he'll be fine with a vet min, in a state with no income tax.

hasnt been any news or even rumors on that so we dont know anything more concrete than that he'd stay with houston.

He's one of the few players on the roster whom I feel is a certainty to be back.

Pretty sure he'll re-sign with the Rockets with the vet's min. He can still play.

im just thinking that we would probably have to give him a multi-year deal to keep him. if it is a 1yr deal, he might not sign. so it isn't about how much he gets for the most part(though a bit concerned), but more of a mult-yr deal too. do you think we will give him a 3yr deal?

he just turned 38. he said he wants to retire at 40 so a 3 yr deal is unlikely/unnecessary.
