I think his off season work, a year recovered from surgery, his cast of floor spacers and our offensive system/pace could give him a shot at coming very close to his career high in points (best case scenario of course).

He will also get as many shots as he likes, since post ups/half court offense was one of our biggest weaknesses when the pace slowed down at times.

But I'll be conservative and say:
21 pts, 13 reb, 2.3 blks and one of his best assist years.

The man has never shot so much as 15 times per games, and the only time he's ever played with someone who shoots more than Harden, who is by no means a chucker, was last year with Kobe. Harden, Parsons, and Lin will make it easier for him to get the ball, but I suspect he'll never get as many shots as you're thinking, especially with a ball dominant wing like Harden.

I could see him getting 13fga and shooting about 60% and getting 11 free throws a game and making half which puts him at about 21ppg. He should also snag 13-14 rebounds if he doesn't start with Asik and pick up 2-3 blocks. That will be huge and make the Rockets so good.

I expect close to his career averages: 18 pts, 12 reb, 2 blk, 58% fg, 50% ft. I think the Rocket's faster pace will be offset by Harden's higher usage. Also, it is his 10th year in the league, he's taken a lot of wear. For a guy that dominates primarily based on his athleticism (as opposed to someone like Duncan who has a lot of skill), I don't see him increasing his productivity in his 10th year.

I don't have any hope for that. I'd be ecstatic if he could hit > 55% FT. His rookie year, he wasn't all bulked up. I think he's way too strong now to have the touch to shoot FTs.

Saw this video from a few months ago elsewhere, thought it was interesting if it wasn't posted here already.

With Dwight you never know, but I do feel that this team probably won't play inside out as much as the Orlando teams did, you don't go from the fastest pace team in the league to the slowest (which was what those Orlando teams were.) in one year..

theoretically they probably slow down a little bit but still largely run off the same offensive scheme as they did last year with the focus on transition / Dribble motion / pick and rolls, but also throw in more inside out plays from time to time to switch things up or when Dwight's really hot with his hook shot that day or when other team's bigs simply can't contain him.

My feeling is that his overall Per game line won't look too different from this year, but hides the fact that he's getting it done in lesser minutes / higher efficiency in general.

so I say 18 PPG / 13 RPG / 2 BPG 33 MPG but TS% goes way back up over .600 again.

Actually Houston won't be able to play much if any inside/out with Howard.

Howard requires a lot space in order to be effective, and in Orlando the Magic were always forced to play "outside/in".

Howard is ineffective in traffic offensively unless he is moving, so Orlando always was forced to create interior spacing for Howard from beyond the arc.

The difference is that inside/out can promote ball movement, but "outside/in" pretty much stops that. Witness Howard's low apg for his career (2.0 was his peak, and 1.5-1.8 is about his average).

Being surrounded by solid perimeter shooters in Orlando, certainly one would have expected higher assist totals, especially coming from a player that was receiving significant touches ..... and that the offense was built around.

That being said, I'd still expect Howard to put up 18-20 ppg and probably around 12 rpg .... if he's healthy.

He isn''t going to improve much offensively, his FT problems are both fundamental and mental, and the past two years has seen a decline in his defensive performance. But, his presence/impact and having Harden.... may be enough to vault the Rockets to the NBA Finals.
Basketball is driven by three principles:

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability

I'm going to be a little pessimistic and say 17/10, both slightly below his career avgs.

Why? Harden will command a lot of shots like Kobe, and Asik will take away rebounds, I'm assuming that there will be stretches where they play together at the same time.

I have some different view and expectation from Dwight this year.

Dwight probably won't be a 21+ PPG scorer again (it's hard to do so as a bigman now and also he doesn't have to)
Dwight will average more than 13 RPG for the next 4 years
Dwight's BPG will stick around 2.0 - 2.5 for awhile
Dwight's FT will never reach 60%+ again (it's been 8 years, if you don't get it, u just don't get it, see Shaq, Shaq was shooting close to 60 percent in his first year, then all those added muscle changes everything)

I think Dwight's best presence is his D. Last year we have 33 mins of good interior D when Asik in on the court, now we have 48 mins. Also 48 mins of even better D consider Dwight is better than Asik on D.

Realistically I think Dwight will post something like 20 PPG 13RPB 2.5 BPG while shooting in upper or mid 0.500s and around 55 percent to his FT

What I really want from Dwight is something like 17.5PPG 14.5 RPG 2.8 BPG and focus more on D and let guys like Harden and Parson be the primary and secondary scorer on this team.

Wasn't it Casspi that he stared down during that game for going after one of the rebounds?

because Howard already had position for the rebound and Casspi jump in front of him to steal that rebound from him and cause a turnover

That's the one! If that happened in the regular season I would have been upset, but since it was a meaningless preseason game it was pretty funny. Omri better not try that in the regular season!

Scola did that a lot of that to Yao too, yea like he can't see Yao standing there, but Yao is a nice person :)
