Exactly, we are still a young team that is in a process of building an identity.
Though, we definitely needed Harden's ISO ball esp. last night's game when all of us were actually sharing the ball way too much even though the shots weren't falling in when the Thunders decided to play physical lock down defense on us.
Harden's potent ISO game has to be a part of the overall offensive scheme which we also must incl. Howard's interior game, finding a open man w. a ball movement, set plays and so fort.

And our defense game crumbles when ever we struggle offensively so once we get to utilize by mixing in our many offensive schemes then the defensive game will eventually follow suit. I'm excited over what we've got and sure our defensive game can improve under the coaches such as JVG but it's not going to be as exciting as to watching the game under defensive deficiency minded McHale once we get to win games convincingly.

At certain moments, always unforeseen, I become happy…
I look at strangers near as if I had known them all my life…
everything fills me with affection…
It may be an hour before the mood passes,
but ultimately I seem to understand

no more space in sig

Yea, Morey is as savvy as they come and I won't be surprised if we get to land another marquee names under his management. Out of those names, I think Love is a feasible option and we can definitely use his size and his deft shooting touch as a third option. As for LeBron, it would be a dream come true but I can only see it happening if we incl. Harden, Asik and rest of talent plus 1st round and cash to get him. Also as a Knicks fan, we should not touch once again never touch Melo even if we can get him for nothing. Sure he is prolific scorer but the dude is not a leader nor winner and he destroys the chemistry of the team where ever he goes.

I don't know what to make of the Rockets anymore just going to relax and watch the games freely without emotion until the team is completely healthy again or we get something in return for Asik.

Read and react isn't a guy with a ball just watch the defense. That's silly. A basic example would by trying to throw the ball into post from the wing. The defense is denying from the post player's inside shoulder the ball gets swung to the corner for an entry pass to the outside hand.

Everybody is always so quick to blame the coaching staff (particularly McHale), or the offensive scheme, or whatever, but more often than not it's really on the players. It wouldn't have mattered if Phil Jackson was coaching last night, with the effort the team gave they were not going to win.

That's speculative. You might be right, you might be wrong. It is on the players, but watching the players do nothing different when the 3's aren't falling and the drives aren't resulting in free throws is frustrating, but that's what frustrates me about McHale. Most teams start the game with a loose running offense, but if they're struggling they switch to a more rigid offense and their bread and butter plays to get some buckets. That isn't happening in Houston, and that is something I do blame on McHale.

It's not just sitting and watching the ball, it's more about spacing. Like for example one of the things R&R schemes likes to do is occupy the space left by somebody who is driving from the top of the key, since when you drive it sucks the defense in and the spot the driver just left is often wide open (we do this a lot but we often miss this open man a lot as well). I'm not sure what post passing has to with offensive scheme/philosophy. Post-passing is just a basic skill.

My point about Phil Jackson is that the effort was clearly not there last night vs OKC, team-wide, outside of D-Mo. It wasn't like they were giving a lot of effort and just struggling to score or defend. And McHale does run the set play here or there to loosen things up, every coach in the NBA does that. I'm not sure what you mean by rigid offense. Teams don't just magically switch their entire offense schemes in the middle of a game.

One thing I want to point out is that everybody saw how we struggled when Parsons was out. Everybody attributed that to Parsons being some offensive juggernaut or something, and while he is a versatile scorer, part of the reason was because Brewer was in the starting line-up which made us go to a heavy play-calling and basic PnR offensive scheme. Then when Parsons came back we went back to our normal system. I'm assuming they put Brewer in for defensive purposes as our perimeter defense is bad enough already, since if they wanted to stick with our normal offense McHale could have easily put in Casspi.

Embarrassment!

Our read/react --> ISO offense only works against not so good teams or good teams that are coasting. It's not for contenders.

Thanks for the honesty.
