Have you ever met any members of our Houston Rockets? Feel free to share any encounters here!
I'll start:
A few years ago I got a call from a good friend who works down in Sugar Land. She was really excited and the conversation went as follows:
Her: Oh my God! I think that I just saw Yao Ming!
Ol' Mr. E: .....
Her: Did you hear me? I think that I just saw Yao Ming!
Ol' Mr. E: ...was it a 7'6" Chinese man?
Her: Yeah!
Ol' Mr. E: yeah, that was Yao Ming.
Her next reply included several words that would get me suspended from here.

Re: Rocket Tales
Another before I head out...
Many, many years ago (man, I am going to totally age myself with this thread) I was working in a bar off of Richmond and lo' & behold, in walks two members of the World Champion Houston Rockets - Sam Cassell and Vernon Maxwell!
This was pretty close to the championship, so they were walking around like Rock Stars in Houston at that point.
Well...Sam was. He was meeting & greeting every person who walked up to him. He was smiling, laughing and had the time of day for everyone who wanted to talk to him.
Meanwhile, Vernon Maxwell bellies right up to the bar and sits down with his arms crossed and orders his drink. He sat there kind of slouched over, not saying much of anything. A few people came up to him and he was cordial, but it was very clear that he was not out to socialize that evening. Sam was having a good time, but Vernon was just there. I got him what he wanted and left him alone to brood.
Let me make something clear: Vernon Maxwell is the most intimidating, most frightening man I have ever encountered (and one time I had to help subdue a guy on PCP raving about Ragnarok, so...). The intensity the this man projected was very real and palpable. Dude was SCARY!
After a while they were ready to go. Right before he gets up he says "Hey..." I turn and look at him and I'm in direct eye contact with a stare that would have made John Wayne #@$* his pants, and he says "I like this place."
Before I could respond he got up and left. Sam was still laughing and shaking hands on the way out.

Re: Rocket Tales
I got to meet Chris Jent when he played Ball here in Australia, he was pretty crazy too. Not Mad Max crazy, but he probably learnt a thing or two from Maxwell.
