I'm not sure I can agree with that. I don't think he proved anything on the defensive end, although he was solid for a stretch. When he was playing center, he was getting beaten.

Obviously you like Motiejunas better, but I maintain they're both average defenders. Both are still obviously young in their respective careers.

He's not a center...? Obviously he was getting beaten playing out of position, where he doesn't have the necessary size and strength.

He played very good defense at the 4 when Dwight was healthy, and it was mentioned pretty often on these boards during that time.

Jones on the other hand ranges from a complete liability to passable on defense.

post up game: DMo > TJones
post up defense: DMo > TJones
pick-and-roll defense: TJones > DMo
stay in front of guard: TJones > DMo
drawing charge: DMo > TJones
block shot: TJones > DMo
3pts shooting: DMo > TJones
free throw: tie
passing lane: TJones > DMo

pretty much a toss up
i think it is easier to replace TJones than DMo
not many 7 footer has post up game and can shoot the 3

Jones is a better rebounder and is still pretty decent in the paint. He's also a better ball handler and a bigger X factor.

When both guys are playing their best, I think Jones is better.

But I like both guys and yet, because Motiejunas has height and some range, he probably has a little better trade value. Therefore, I think Motie is the guy to move in that event since he'll fetch a better package.

Motie has the potential to be a decent long range shooter but it's not their yet. Obviously his strongest aspect of his game is back to the basket in the post. He's also prone to getting beat up playing center so his best position is still PF although he'll need to build that part of his game. I think over the long run, he's a backup center in the NBA.

I think Jones is the better long term asset, if deciding between the two.

Granted I havent seen that many Rockets games but from what I did, it did seem like DMo was a slightly better defender than Jones as he could read the opponent offense bit better and was smarter about it. Technically Jones can be better defender due to him being more athletic but so far I would say Dmo is a more reliable on D than Jones.

That being said I'd love to get DMo on Raptors but doubt we have much to offer you.

Keep D-Mo Trade T-Jones

I used to be a big T-Jones supporter but I have been a bit disappointed about his development so far.

D-Mo got that 1-in-100 post game and solid 3-game so we should probably keep him long term. You just can find many T-Jones type forwards in the future.

The only things that T-Jones is better at might be his long arms and dribbling skills.

To OP, if you really want D-Mo... Give us Gobert and Hayward for D-Mo and Howard despite the cap issue.
