A beat writer on Twitter was saying that the terms can actually be adjusted if an issue comes up during the physical. Not sure to what degree.

Yes they can. Bobby Marks (former assistant GM who now works for the vertical I believe) said they can try to change the protections if both teams are willing. Don't think Houston should be though
