So he is officially an unrestricted free agent?

Morey should now sign him to a huge contract just to keep this beautiful nightmare rolling.

This is going to be a future episode of ESPN 30 for 30.

I think this is going to negatively impact the Rockets with future free agents. For sure with any BJ Armstrong clients and possibly other Wasserman Media Group clients, which includes Clint Capela.

Good writeup on TDS comments

(sigh) I'm just gonna repost this here...
No.

This is ALL on BJ Armstrong.

Seriously.

Let’s look at the timeline.

Dmo had a qualifying offer of 4.4 million dollars.

The rockets extended an offer of two years at 7 million dollars plus per year as a sort of ‘prove it’ deal, letting Dmo play himself into a better contract down the road if he wanted to. He and Armstong declined.

Then Dmo had an offer from the Nets of four years, 37 million (9.25/year if all targets hit). Then the rockets matched the base contract (as required by the CBA), putting Dmo in the position of playing 4 years for 31 million (7.75 million/year ) , a **** up of gigantic proportions orchestrated solely by Armstrong and his incompetence.

Dmo and Armstrong refused to play ball, and basically pissed and moaned about the **** contract situation that ARMSTRONG created for Dmo. The Rockets then went back and kicked in another 4 million dollars to get Dmo to 4 years for $35 million when they were under no obligation to do so, putting Dmo at 8.75 million/year.

They had Dmo by the balls for four years straight, yet the Rockets bent over backwards to be nice to the guy – keep that in mind.

Also, keep in mind that New York has a state income tax that Dmo would have been paying that amounts to about 10% (ease of math purposes. Texas doesn’t.

This means that Dmo would have been making 8.325 million after state taxes in new york (before federal), compared to his 8.75 million after state taxes in Texas (before federal).

Plus Dmo would have ZERO moving costs staying in Houston.

Houston gave him a better deal than the Nets did by the end of it all. They really wanted to keep him, and bent over backwards, as I said, to make nice with him, despite the fact that they were under no obligation to do so.

Yet, for some reason Dmo and Armstrong keep trying to spin this as a ROCKETS problem.

Well, I, for one, am not fooled.

Best of luck to ya, Dmo. Wish you could have been here, but now you can’t play for Houston, you can’t play for the Nets, and as of THIS moment, you are looking at making $0 this year instead of millions.
