come on
we have Morey!!!
he'll pull a deal out of nowhere

I know I know but everytime we set in for the big deal, we get disappointed. At least now we are actually a desirable organization for free agents rather than just a team that can strictly only afford them

i dont think they're far apart. rebounding and defense is the same. dwight is lightyears ahead in athleticsm. but offense he's only one level ahead. asik avg nearly 11ppg in his first year as a starter, i think he can increase his ppg to 13-15 next season if he gets more touches. dwight can get 20ppg if he's healthy and on a team that fits him. but thats not much better if asik can score in the mid teens

there's also the drama/diva he brings. but if dwight learns post moves then yeah he's head and shoulders above asik.

I compare Dwight Howard to Terrell Owens during his prime. Best player at his position in the game, but diva attitude negates all of his talent. When things don't go well, he'll start throwing everyone under the bus--coach, teammates, etc. It'll ruin the team chemistry and ultimately the team will be worse off having him.

"According to sources with knowledge of the situation, part of the discussion between Howard and Kupchak centered around Howard's frustration with D'Antoni -- particularly how the center felt marginalized as the coach looked to Bryant and Steve Nash for leadership and suggestions and discounted Howard's voice."

I am a Laker fan & ready to ship Howard's immature, self absorbed & limited offensive game to another team... He plays defense and boards but his offensive game is VERY limited... He relies on athleticism and has a bad back... He isn't a MAX player and is a CANCER... Be cautious... You guys have a good young team that plays for each other... Don't take that for granted...

"But being around as long I've been around, it doesn't bother me when I hear at some point a player didn't see eye to eye with a coach. Players don't have to like coaches. They just have to play hard. In L.A., our coaches get evaluated on wins and losses and not whether our players like them or don't like them. It doesn't matter."

Why are y'all complaining about Dwight??? He never was called a diva until the media started pressing him on which team he would sign to. I think when he finally signs everything will calm down and he'll go back to his old self before being a potential free agent.

he can just say no comment or he'll think about it
you don't have to answer everything the media ask you
reason he keep answering them because he wants the attention
if he wont say anything media will stop asking

I love Asik as much as anyone...I'd even go as far as saying he was our most valuable player last season. But Dwight is noticeably better..he's a much better finisher, he's one of the most productive P&R players in the league, and even better defensively. Weren't the Lakers like top 3 in DRTG since the all-star break, with Dwight averaging like 18/13? I think he'd thrive with Lin/Harden replacing Asik's possessions + more post ups/pick and roll. Dwight IMO, isn't a bad post scorer, he has a pretty effective left handed hook shot...the problem is he's bit of a blackhole and robotic offensively. Dwight when he's healthy (like he was post all-star break for the Lakers) is an MVP-caliber player because of the pressure he puts on the defense and ability to singlehandily anchor an elite defense.

I don't like his attitude, and how much a distraction he's been these past couple of years, but I wouldn't be too worried about that. I think he'd actually fit in better with our current group of guys, because they are more or less laid back, and solid chemistry wise. Dwight doesn't seem like the sort to react well to anything outside his norm...I think we are pretty close to that norm team fit wise.

We have the shooting, and we like to go small. Dwight would dramatically change our team's outlook both offensively and defensively for the better.

I think ur team will be a good fit for Howard attitude regardless. what to do with Asik though? we let him go because the Bulls can't afford an expensive backup center. I know you can, but do you want to go to that direction? a s&t with the Lakers?

no sign-and-trade we can afford to keep both
would like to see if both can co-exist first
we are not going to get Love or Aldridge
who can we get by trading Asik+Robinson?

if i'm GM i rather spend the money on Iguodala and Millsaps
we need player that can play some tough one-on-one defense
big: Asik+Millsaps+Parsons+Iguodala+Harden
small: Asik+Parsons+Iguodala+Harden+Lin

Bill Simmons proposes Howard for Parsons and Asik. Would you do it?

No. Absolutely not. Why should we?

He either come here as a free agent or he doesn't. Sign & Trade does nothing for him and is hugely detrimental to us.

Bill Simmons doesn't know that we can offer max to Howard w/o S/T if we can get rid of $4.5 mil....so that is why he said it....he is going with the current cap space we have now...but i disagree with him about giving up Parsons or Asik....if the Lakers want to give us a couple of picks for Trob and White...sure, why not.

bill also wrote this too...thought it was worth noting:

Then again, would that be a bad thing? We have overwhelming evidence that Howard can't handle carrying a big-market franchise, that he's better off in a more laid-back situation — ideally as the running mate for someone who could shoulder the superstar burdens for him. That's why the Rockets make so much sense. That's an underrated destination city for NBA players: no state income tax, great barbecue, fun nightlife,10 low cost of living, a diverse population, and best of all (for Dwight, anyway), decidedly less pressure. Football rules the roost in Texas. The Houston media wouldn't pick Dwight apart. Rockets fans would be happy to have him. He'd even have Hakeem down the street as a potential Basketball Yoda. And they could re-create a superior version of Dwight's 2009 Magic team with Howard, James Harden and a bunch of slash-and-kick shooters

This makes 0 sense to me. The Lakers were actually played like a top 5 team after the all star break with Dwight putting up his usual numbers and the team was finally looking like they were gelling. If you think losing Dwight Howard going forward helps the Lakers future you have another thing coming for you. Plus the guy is a walking blockbuster trade. If they sign him and he chumps out they can get a package and picks for him later. Him walking away on ensures LA hits the Sedale Threat years again.
