The fact that this team has been so successful despite the injuries is just a testament to how good that they are.

I heard that this season our "Big Three" on offense - Johnson, Foster and Schaub - have only been on the field together for 4 complete quarters. That, if true, is simply amazing!

And can you believe that we have one of the top ranked defenses in the NFL, especially after last season? :D

I have this impression (gained from the minutes of my life that I've spent watching football) that big contracts tend to be silly as 1. those guys are so prone to going down 2. it's seems to be relatively easy to get someone who can step in for them who can do just as good or better.

Working well for us this year, apparently.

The last point is particularly important. One generally has to be about 6’8″ or taller to be able to play power forward or center in the NBA. What most people don’t seem to be aware of is how exceedingly rare this is. The average American male is about 5’10″. A person 6’8″ tall is somewhere between 3 and 4 standard deviations from the mean. What this means is that there are probably less than 100,000 6’8″ men in the entire US, and with each inch this decreases exponentially; there are probably only about 3-4,000 American men that are at least 6’10″, and fewer than 50 are 7’0″ or taller (statistics quoted here). And I don’t need to explain that only a tiny fraction of those men have the athletic skill necessary to play basketball at all, and an even tinier fraction will have enough skill to play professional ball. There is a reason that NBA scouts love to say that “You can’t teach a guy how to be tall."

Did NOT expect there to only be FIFTY 7' men in the U.S.

Speaking of "deviations from the mean", everybody needs to be watching the 'Open Court' series on NBATV. They're replaying it constantly. Be on the lookout. (The series is Kenny Smith, Shaq, C-Webb, Steve Smith, Steve Kerr, Charles, and Cheryl Miller's Brother just hanging out talking about their playing days.)

Out of the whole series, you NEED to see the 'My Generation' episode. 2 reasons:

1. They spend a full segment talking about Hakeem. It's essentially hagiography. But coming from those guys, it's meaningful.

2. Stockton gets called "a dirty bastard" and NOBODY DISPUTES IT.

I have it on DVR, if anyone wants to come over.

The John Stockton bit was in this section called "Nemesis" I think, on nbatv.com.

I do not get the Kris Humphries hate. He's pretty much an awesome basketball player.

It reflects poorly on YOU if you're booing someone who only deserves to be booed for his [probably engineered/scripted] heel turn on a reality TV show that centers around a parasitic leech's even more parasitic offspring.

We know what you've been doing at night, and it's not pretty.

And seriously, when did it get to be looked down upon to call a lawyer/lawyer's kid a scum-sucking turdbag who increased their fortune by whoring out bodily assets? When everyone says it in person, it's fine. Say it on TV and you're evil? Please.

I agree. What Kris Humphries did was just partake in a season long episode of Springer, dashed with a bit of opulence. That's somehow scornful, but Robert Parish getting the teary eyes hall of fame treatment when he repeatedly beat his wife over the course of two decades gets willfully ignored is just deplorable.

Anyone play ball at the downtown 24? Seeing if i should restart my 24 membership. I used to go in Katy in high school. I haven't played in a while but I'm trying to get back into shape for my NYR and running is fine but I want to start playin again

If anyone does how's the competition? and when is the best time to come play?

I'll suck now, but I used to be good so hopefully it won't take too long to get back in game shape

First you have a thing for big black guys, now you want a bulky dude tied up next to you? :P

They are a bit thuggish, but most people have probably played someone like that at some point. That takedown was EXCESSIVE though...

More like their coach should be fired and excommunicated, cause he's teaching/requesting them to do that...

That 34's is looking like he's having a great time being a turd. He smirks like he got away with something everytime.

BTW, the Red Team lost by one in that game according to the youtube thread.
