Congrats from a Magic fan Rockets. Dwight isn't the **** he's been portrayed at the past couple years, it is actually enjoyable to watch a guy who plays with a smile.

Apparently Chandler Parsons is responsible for Dwight coming here not Morey. (though Morey drafted Chandler so I guess Daryl gets some credit)

Chandler Parsons for Executive of the Year!

“Chandler was relentless,” explained a source close to the situation. “[Chandler] called and texted [Dwight] every day, even face-timed and would answer every question Dwight could potentially have. We would drive to his house in the hills and talk to him. Basically Chandler Parsons recruited him like Nick Saban and a 5-star defensive tackle; they hardly knew each other at beginning of process.”

Parsons and Howard are represented by the same agent, Dan Fegan -- which may have allowed Parsons access to Howard.

One report stated Howard was “50-50” between the Rockets and Lakers as late as Friday night.

“Dwight didn’t waffle at all,” said the source. ”It was all contrived for clicks. No other team could win next year, and he developed a good friendship with Chandler. There is no one on the Rockets more responsible for D12 in Houston than Chandler. He would be in Dallas, or with the Golden State Warriors, or stayed in LA without him.”

So here’s what I was told is the Hakeem Olajuwon workout schedule in Houston this summer in one file:

Expected to work out unless there’s a late hitch:

Dwight Howard
Carmelo Anthony
Amare Stoudemire
Joakim Noah
Greg Monroe
Andre Drummond
JaVale McGee
Kenneth Faried

Looking like a solid chance these two will work out but still talking:

Kevin Durant
Serge Ibaka

Hakeem is working on this guy to work out but not yet known if will:

Blake Griffin about 18 hours ago

@dunleavyjr

I think it's time for an avatar change. I'd love if someone with photoshop skills could somehow make my avatar into a gif with a hand coming up from the side, opening the paper bag, and revealing Harden's face..or Dwights?

Morey for executive ofthe year. He somehow turned a core of Lowry/K Mart/Scola into Dwight/Harden. Amazing.

With an assist from David Stern. We could have a core of Pau/Nene/Lowry

Adding Dwight Howard

Post#172 » by AMW27 » Sat Jul 6, 2013 9:59 pm

Adding Dwight Howard is a great move for the Rockets. They already have James Harden in place. And now they add a guy that's a all nba first team calibur/franchise player when at 100 percent. A top five or six player. So people who say that the Lakers are better off without Dwight need to rethink.

I believe Houston should run the offense through Dwight instead of Harden. Since Dwight is an elite player when at full strength he is capable of leading a team to a title. I believe he is the guy that gives the Rockets more of a shot at a title.

Not trying to demean Harden, but I don't think he is capable of leading a team to a title as of now. I think of him as a prime Gilbert Arenas. A guy that can go out on the court any given night and put up big numbers but is not capable of being that lead guy on a title team. Harden doesn't have the impact of A Kobe Bryant or LeBron James. He may lead the Rockets in ppg next season, but I believe Howard is the more impactful player.

I just want to congratulate y'all on the signing and how I do find this somewhat humorous since I was the Rockets on NBA 2k13 and I got Dwight to sign as well a couple months ago.

Surround the team with shooters. Try and get Ryan Anderson and rockets will be dangerous

why does everyone want bev to start? all he has on lin is defense, and lin can play good defense too. everything else he's the same or worse. bev isnt a good playmaker, averaage at best. lin can rack up assists if he has aa good pnr big, t hat was a big part of his game in new york. we have dwight so lin will start to show what he really can do.

ease up on the premature lineup changes. lin did exactly what was expected of him in his first season with houston. everyone expects him to be an elite pg w/o the players that got him to that level in new york.

Return to Houston Rockets
