Is it just me, or does Motiejunas suck bawlz?
Bring back David Anderson!
Terrence Jones is looking pretty decent, though. Asik is looking like a steal.

You are not alone moofs.
Like Mr. Andersen before him, Dmo's offense is not good enough to justify his defensive weakness quite yet. The rockets are pretty set at PF with Patterson and Terrence Jones. So....Motiejunas is going to have to play out of position @ the 5 spot. He might even be squeezed out of the rotation as the rocets search for a more capable backup 5.
Also i rage pretty hard everytime i watch Motiejunas airball one of his patented fadeaway flip hook. That shot is fugly. In the immortal words of Bill Walton: Throw it down big man! Dont ****ing fade.

We have guys that do things plain better than him while providing a stronger presence on the defensive end.
Dmo is an ok shooter but not nearly as consistent as Patterson from mid range or FT line.
Dmo runs well for a big but he cant finish or contest shots like Terrence Jones.
Dmo is a capable ball handler/passer but he's not in the same league as Royce White.
But Dmo is probably our best pick and roll big i will give you that. And he has more moves in his arsenal than all of those guys. But his "moves" are not really effective at the NBA level.(see those effing flip hook)
He needs to be a better shooter or finisher to be useful.

Cut Livingston brockman and jjj??
IF, this is what the rotation and situation looks like
then i have NO idea, why they signed Delfino
hes blocking minutes for Morris
and any minutes that Lamb or Jones, might have gotten at the SF spot
since ive been hearing most people say, Montie is too weak right now for Center minutes
it would b better to move Delfino, or not have signed him, and keep/kept J.J.
not sure the rule about moving a player u just signed
i dont value Forbes, so hes an option to cut or move

Re: State of the Roster
not until we have a reliable backup pf. motie, morris, and white might have a hard time this season. we keep 4 pgs, livingston can get spot minutes at the 3, so can lamb.

Neither are SF, therefore neither players get minutes at SF.

Re: State of the Roster
I always remember Terrence being regarded as a player who could play both SF and PF (in the pros), and even some people saying it was a 'flaw' that he had no true position. So I think it wouldn't be weird to play him some SF minutes, especially if he plays with the second unit.

Re: State of the Roster
He's 6'10 250 with a slow and slightly inconsistent outside jumper. His strength is in finishing inside and running the floor vs other bigs.
He's a PF. The only position i see him getting minutes is at C.

Re: State of the Roster
from clutchfans, so far Reeves Nelson has been cut...who the **** is that, you say? good question, might've been a practice player i dunno i never saw him on the box score. but somethign about him you might find very interesting, in a bad way
sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1195501/1/index.htm
i dont watch much college ball, i know that players fight in practice it happens, but how often do players like nelson happen? is ucla known for this **** or what? god daam. not one mention of this on any of his draft profiles
Nelson was hardly the player around whom to build a team. He was a classic bully, targeting teammates who weren't as athletically gifted as he and tormenting the support staff. At the end of practice, he would punt balls high up into the stands at Pauley Pavilion, turn to the student managers and say, "Fetch." Nelson frequently talked back to the assistant coaches. When they told him to stop, he would remark, "That's how Coach Howland talks to you."
Many players say Howland degraded his assistants, but only Nelson used that as license to treat the assistants with disrespect. Donny Daniels, a member of Howland's staff since Howland arrived in Westwood, would leave after the season to take the same job at Gonzaga. One player says that when he asked Daniels why he was departing, Daniels kiddingly responded that if he had to coach Nelson for one more season, he would kill himself. (Daniels, through his lawyer, denied making that statement.)
Nelson showed Howland only slightly more respect. By his own admission, he often ignored the head coach's phone calls, and Howland resorted to calling one of Nelson's roommates, asking him to coax Nelson onto the line.
When asked by SI why he didn't discipline Nelson, Howland said in a statement: "I firmly believe in the philosophy of giving all of my players the chance to do things the right way. There have been challenges with some student-athletes during my tenure here at UCLA, and we have utilized plenty of resources to help them, the specifics of which very few people would know anything about."
But Nelson's behavior—and Howland's tolerance of it—undercut team morale. Combined with the partying of the other freshmen and the three sophomores, it torpedoed the season. UCLA won four of five against weak competition to open the year but then lost six of its next seven, falling to Portland (by 27), Long Beach State (by 11) and Mississippi State (by 18).
Team members say that if Howland had taken a harder line with his young players, most of them would have come around. "But with Reeves," one player says, "the only thing to do was to kick him off the team

Re: State of the Roster
Reeves Nelson, who was eventually kicked off the team this season, was a menace. He allegedly once peed all over his teammate Tyler Honeycutt's clothes and bed because he thought Honeycutt told coach Howland about a New Year's Eve party they were going to.
Nelson frequently injured players in practice, targeting players who weren't as athletic as him. He reinjured the shoulder of forward James Keefe. He threw bench player Tyler Trapani to the ground and hurt his back on a fast break.
Nelson also terrorized freshmen Matt Carlino during practice when he had a concussion. Eventually Carlino left the program after less than a season.
