3.9 tons of marijuana confiscated by Texas Highway Patrol
Image
For highway patrol officers, there's no such thing as a routine traffic stop. That adage was again proven true when a Texas Highway Patrol trooper pulled over a gas tanker to perform a routine visual inspection and discovered the tanker was carrying 3.9 tons of marijuana. It's unclear how the trooper was able to make the discovery.

In a news release, the Texas Department of Public Safety estimated the value of the confiscated pot at around $3.4 million. The truck driver was arrested and charged with possession. He's being held on $1 million bond. According to DPS spokesperson Sgt. Johnny Hernandez, more arrests may be forthcoming.

Please tell me that you did not try to talk him into getting the Rockets to trade for Pau again.

Brandon Triche's idiocy cost the Cuse for a chance to tie. Still a close game tho.

Imagining Morey falling down the hill at Miller ODT like Humpty Dumpty.

You'd think the game would have improved more than that in 80 years. I can't barely tell a difference, what with all that behind-the-back tomfoolery instead of focusing on fundamentals.

It's also obvious where all this trouble with travelling came from. Pay attention to the rules, you crazy kids!

I think it's critically important, and highly befitting at this somber juncture, that we all sit back and silently pontificate our place in the universe, while remembering all the greatness that The Mamba has bestowed on our lives.

Get well soon, Kobe.

Gotta keep the house payments flowing for all your ex wife's cribs, after all.

When I decide I really don't like somebody, I commit.

I feel a bit sad about Kobe. I hope he pulls a Bernard King and comes back strong.

You know, at times I feel bad that I'm laughing about this.

Then I remember that he's a bitch who belittles teammates like inhuman peons, refuses to consider his own failures (something like that anyway, can't currently put my finger on quite what I'm trying to point out here), cheated on his wife with a janitor, and just generally seems to believe he's above recourse and is being fully justified in looking down on everyone else.

So yeah, maybe I'm wrong in laughing about it, but he could definitely still stand to lose a few more notches on his ego belt.
I will probably continue to laugh about it.
Then hope it doesn't qualify me for the same karmic backlash.

There is something cruel about robbing a person of what he does best, especially since at his best he's one of the best to do his craft.

My wife wishes nothing but ill on Kobe's basketball career, but she grimaced a bit when she saw the news on espn. Then of course what followed was a newscaster reading Kobe's venting of his injury on facebook post after the injury footage, and she couldn't stop laughing. Whatever empathy she had for him, his accomplishments, the tragic turn of events, evaporated.

I have always managed to find him entertaining, for better or for worse. Every single GOAT candidate belittled their team mates when they thought it necessary. They just don't get as much press over it as Bryant. Most NBA players step out, but then when Kobe got caught, throwing Shaq under the bus too, that was a new low. But if anything, I've came to believe that an entitlement complex has been written into most professional athletes are that come of age of my generation, and Kobe's just been the most brazen about it.

Yep. I'll manage to get over that, though.

Tell her she has the respect of the internet. Preferably followed with an elaborate fist bump.

I used to find him highly entertaining myself. He had one amazing dunk in the 2000 playoffs, an awesome fastbreak hookshot over Mutombo in an allstar game, and plenty of other impressive highlights. Since about 2003-2004, I've merely just grudgingly respected most of his game, while emphasizing his overratedness at the same time (he ain't no GOAT candidate, but he's generally been really good). He's got to be among the top 10 biggest pricks I've ever seen in my life, though.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the art world, don't such people generally have to wait for their effusive praise until after they're dead?

Entertaining not just in basketball, but I find his brand of schadenfreude to be equally consumable as well.

He's just so annoying that I can't help but laugh at him.
