We waived Scola via the amnesty clause, which means it doesn't reflect on our cap.

I do not like shoes sometimes, but that's OK. If he's willing to come here for $14M or less, the Rocket should sign him IMO.

you want josh smith not because of his talent, but because he gives you a hard on? :eyebrows:

and ya when someone gets amnestied they still get paid but it doesnt count towards the teams cap.

imagine what the lakers could do if they amnesty kobe's 30mil salary next season...dayum

Yeah...we still owe him till 14/15....Larry Coon says the cap for next season is gonna be between 58.5 to 60mil...from hoopshype i added up for rockets and it comes up to be $ 40,663,517(2013-24) which excludes picking up option for delfino, garcia, and brooks but picking up option for parsons, olbrecht, and smith.

Lin and Asi's salary on the cap is 8.3 million not 5.2 million.

http://data.shamsports.com/content/page ... ockets.jsp

Hoopshype is not always accurate.

Our salary next year without options are 46 million. IF we only bring back Parsons, Bev, Smith but decline option on Delfino, Brooks, Garcia, Andersen it'll be at 48-49 million. Assuming salary cap is set at 60 million we only have about 12 million to work with.

God we need to get rid of Royce White. That'll spell us another 1.7 million. Preferably i'll like to move TRob for a future pick to drop us another 3 mill.

my bad...i forgot about that and hoopshype made me forget about it even more...lol..

so now it is actually $46,962,809...i think andersen is guaranteed and not an option according to spotrac.
i agree with you about trying to move trob and white...any further capspace would be great!

Scola doesn't count in cap unless rockets need to met the minimum salary requirement.

Let's go with Shamsports since Spotrac is giving conflicting info too..since other poster mentioned Scola can be eliminated as part of cap so long as we meet the minimum salary requirement. The 2012-13 minimum was 85% of salary cap...so let's say for next year it will be 85% also...with salary cap at $60mil....which means close to $51mil minimum we have to meet for 2013-14, so right now it is $48.6 mil(bring back Parsons, Bev, Smith) and declining Fino, Brooks, Garcia, Anderson,Olbrecht. Give or take depending on actual 2013-14 cap, we should meet it w/o having to add Scola...maybe add Fino.

According to my spreadsheet:

-We have ~38 million dollars committed to Asik, Lin, Harden, Trob, White, Dmo and Jones
-We will certainly keep the non guaranteed deals of Parsons, Beverly and Smith which gives us ~42m in committed salaries (with min. roster charges.

In order to have Dwights max cap space, the most likely scenario is giving away Thomas Robinson or White. We will have enough for Chris Paul's max cap.

:sour: I would have never thought you wanted Josh Smith but the worst part is the contract. Please be greenfont. If we happen to get Smith it better be for less than 11 only 3 years but I just do not want him. We need to unload our 4s and upgrade but not for Smith or Milsap.

If we are going to go with a big that is not part of this team right now and have a realistic chance at getting him then I am hoping it is Jefferson. Not a fan of giving Milsap 10 mil when we have players that can do what he does. Need a real legit scorer in the post. A

I agree about PG, as I don't think Lin is all that good, but you just need to nab an all star player no matter what the position is.

I disagree on Jefferson, I don't think he is a Morey guy at all.....While individually talented, I think he is a net neutral player because his defense just isn't good. I would much rather hope Pau gets amnestied. He is still the best post player in the NBA imo.

Milsap is underated. He is not a highlight machine, but is one of those guys who always makes the right plays. While we may have guys who physically can do what he does, its really a mental thing, which we don't have.

I don't think anybody ever criticized Harden of being decent at defense. He is a negative on that end of the floor.

Hell yes to an amnestied Pau.

I wish list to improve to defense in the backcourt I just think Harden/Lin backcourt is a bad idea especially on the defensive end. Not sure if Tony Allen is available but I would like him. Yeah I would like someone that can shoot and defend but I am a big fan of his. Of course the 4 spot is the biggest need and I think if Rick leaves and then Flip just might breakdown that roster and start an over. I think there could be a strong chance in them trading Love and build with Williams and Rubio. LMA is not going to be traded anytime soon and same goes with Bosh. I really want a 4 that can help off the weakside and spread the floor but there is no one out there like that.

Jefferson is more likely to be a Rocket than LMA or Love...Pau isn't going to get amnestied...i'm not thrilled about Jefferson's D, but at least he can score down low which takes alot of pressure off Harden. I do think TJones can improve on his post play with a good summer workout with Dawson or McHale.

We could probably get some pick for Robinson, but nothing for White since he never got any pt. Who really wants him. At least if we had played him, there might be some potential of a team possibly wanting him.

It really doesn't matter, I am confident we have the means to open up the cap space one way or another.

Another option would be trade away Lin for nothing and pick up Brooks option.

Beverley / Brooks is a more than serviceable PG rotation.

You have a better shot of trading White for a pick than Lin getting traded...much less traded for nothing.

pickup option for beverly, parsons, and smith...totals to $41,938,187....sign dwight to 4yr/88mil...so we're 4mil over cap($64mil)...get rid of trob and white before we sign D12 which is around $5mil to get under. We are well over the salary minimum requirement($51mil ?) if Howard signs, so no need to add Scola. The roster minimum requirement is 8 players?? If so, we should be fine. We can keep Asik until we get a good offer for him...no rush to trade him right away. Fill me in if i have left out anything.

if the clippers get an early exit friday, there is a slim chance for cp3...so this begs the question, would cp3 or dwight fit better with harden? certainly, the inside/outside game seems to look like the better option but cp3 brings alot of things to the table.

if cp3's numbers keep trending down then im ok with either. we wouldnt need a reliable post scorer fi we get paul. just a stretch 4 who can get around 10ppg. we can contend with the likes of nene, scola, ibaka. w/e young pfs we keep are gonna help with scoring down low too.

but we still need at least one real shooter, a year of team chemistry and maybe a perimeter defender if we dont keep garcia, who's getting 6.5mil next season.

how about this for a pipe dream?
paul / bev / brooks
james / n young
parsons / garcia
j thompson / hayes / dmo / robinson
asik / smith / hayes

- trade lin, tj and white for j thompson and hayes. its been 2 years for hayes and isnt working out there so bring him back, mchale will love him. kings get 2 exprings and lin's big contract, but we're taking hayes so it evens out.
- sign nick young to a 2 year 3-5mil contract, 2nd year to. good defense/offense player, perfect backup
- re-sign garcia, we need a consistent perimeter defender and he's been that this series.
- pick up option on brooks for insurance at pg. also can go small with him and bev

thats around 70mil salary total. im ok with keeping delfino for insurance. we can try to get corey brewer for 4-5 mil. a little cheaper than garcia.
