In my honest opinion, I don't think that there was ever any real traction to a Rockets/Celtics deal for Rondo. Game knows Game and you can't play a player. Morey & Ainge knew that there was not a deal there, but they were OK with the rumor being out there if it could possibly drum up interest from other parties.

This is just my take on it.

I agree. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if that's all that was. Im pretty certain thay was the case between Morey and Hankie with those Asik to Philly rumors.

Rondo would be a poor fit on the Rockets for the same reason why Lin is a poor fit.

Ainge just saved Morey's ass by declining the trade. I would be asking for Lin and Motiejunas instead of Parsons if I were Ainge to be honest.

Parsons was on the Jay Mohr show today. Mohr asked him specifically about the Rondo trade and Chandler said Morey assured him that he wouldn't be traded. Mohr asked him if he's "a Rocket for life?" and Chandler said that's up to Daryl. He did say he has one year left on his contract so that might indicate that Morey has told him he won't be declining the option this summer and instead letting him be unrestricted next year.

Lin/Asik for Rondo/Bass would make more sense to me. Lin and Asik would both start for the Celts, and Rondo/Bass would be a defensive upgrade for the Rocks overall.

Keep in mind Asik and Lin probably won't be in the long-term plans for Boston. Maybe Asik would though I see him possibly going elsewhere for a bigger deal and or a contender that will give him starting minutes. Houston would have to part with a first rounder which probably would be Ainge's asking price and or a couple second rounders.

Ainge almost fleeced Sacramento out of McLemore and Thomas, but Rondo killed the deal by saying I ain't resigning here. Plus him and Run-DMC probably would have butted heads. If your H-town and I'am McHale, I'm getting in Harden's grill for being passive or showing no effort on defense. A Wal-Mart greeter plays more defense than him for god's sake! This will kill Houston's title hopes if Harden plays too passively on defense plus Beverly can't cover everybody unless they poach Sefolosha from OKC. Would he be a good fit?

I don't think Sefolosha would be a fit...but Rondo would neutralize CP3, Westbrook and Parker - PG's for the 3-teams ahead of us (yes, they would all take us in 7 or less). Bass would be tough to keep on the bench because TJones can't play near the D that Bass can.

Lin and Asik would form a nice young nucleus for Boston to go along with Green, Bradley and Sullinger.
