Batt-Man done for the season

Shane Battier won't return to the court this season. They're keeping him out and targetting an off-season return to workouts in April.

That sucks, but it makes sense. No reason to push Shane's knee when the season is all but over.

I wonder how people are going to read into this. Will it be:

1) he's an important part of the Rockets plans next season and they want him to avoid risking more injury; or

2) Morey wants to trade him, but can't do it if he gets hurt worse in the last few games, or is seen playing at a sub-par level.

Let the speculation begin!!!!

its pretty simple. Its a numbers game. Ariza, Budinger, and Battier fill in the same spot. And even though Battiers the better defender and leader, hes older so he will be shopped. And the way Budinger's been playing when given minutes, he definitely needs more playing time next season.

It's probably a little bit of both. I think Battier will remain a Rocket until we get an offer for him that's too good to pass up. He's a vitally important cog in the Rockets machine, but at the same time--if we get the chance to get someone more useful, Morey takes it without a second thought.

More playing time for BUdd and the rest of the young players. If Battier is to be traded I hope we get a good player back and that he's sent to a contender. :)

I agree. I was really pissed on when I heard we traded for Battier, but I've realized how awesome he is. If he gets traded it better be to a damn good team.
