ALL OPTIONS ON THE TABLE AS ROCKETS ENTER OFFSEASONhttp://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/spo ... 61352.htmlMorey on Scola and Lowry
"They’re going to be back," Morey said. "Mr. (Leslie) Alexander (Rockets owner) said we’ve got all the resources. When we made the trade at the deadline and walked him through it, we said this might be a year where we go above where we’ve been before in terms of financial commitment. Kyle and Luis are two of his favorite players on the team — for the obvious reasons that they help us win and they’re both hardworking guys — and we’re going to have them back. Mr. Alexander said we’re keeping them no matter what."
Morey on Brooks
Morey also said he was open to a long-term extension for Aaron Brooks, though Brooks is under contract for next season. They more likely will stick to their previous position of waiting for the next collective bargaining agreement before reaching agreements on new contracts with signed players.
"We love Aaron," Morey said. "We want to lock up anybody who is part of our future long-term. We’d like to keep our core together. That’s one thing we have to look at the CBA, how it’s going to turn out and how it’s going to impact things."

LOWRY WEIGHTS LEAVING FOR STARTING SPOThttp://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/spo ... 61404.html“I want to be a starter,” Lowry said. “I want to play. I want a chance to be that guy. Playing behind Aaron (Brooks) this year was great. I think we work together well. I want a chance to expand my game and experience new things. But I'd be happy to be back.”
“He'd lose his mind if he left me,” Brooks said. “There's opportunities out there. I'm going to keep talking to him and keep bugging him.
“Hopefully, he makes the right decision.”
Hearing this, Lowry said: “That's my guy. Honestly, I love that guy like my brother.”
A little Francis - Mobley bromance between these two.

It's good to know they're fully committed to making sure Scola and Lowry are a part of this team moving forward, as they are definitely my two favorite players as well. I hope Lowry decides to sign here and not be seduced by the idea of a starting position somewhere else. AB needs to sex him up all summer to get him to stay.

Much as i love Lowry, I don't think he can find a starting spot for any team in the NBA.

Its great to hear that Les Alexander is still willing to spend the money needed in order to put together a championship contending team. Even if we are unable to convince Bosh I still think we will be in a great position to win the western conference by re-signing Lowry & Scola.
They are both restricted free agents so there is no way we'd lose Lowry without compensation.
This is going to be a great off-season for Houston. We have the assets to put together a potential blockbuster deal. If not we will retain key FAs. We have a lotto pick in a deep draft. Gonna be exciting to see what Morey is able to do.

Really? Off the top of my head I'd say that he could easily start for New York, Indiana, Lakers? And how about for Houston? If we have everybody healthy he seems like a much better fit at the PG than Brooks.

I'll give you Indiana. New York and LA, i don't think so. Mike Dantony won't play a PG that can't shoot and the Lakers triangle offense requires a shooter at the 1.
Lowry is a stable 3 pt shot away from being a starter in the NBA. imo

Guy986,
The Knicks signed Duhon and he had no 3pt shot. They're supposed to be interested in Shaun Livingston who has no 3pt.
Teams needing a PG include Atlanta,Miami,NY,Philly(hometown),Detroit,Indy,Lakers and it just takes one to go full MLE.

This is where you're wrong.
Duhon is a career 36% 3 point shooter. Last year was his worst shooting year statistically speaking (34%) but he still shot better than Lowry ever did.(who is a career 26% 3 pt shooter)
Saying Duhon has no 3pt shot is like saying Rafer Alston has no 3pt shot, which is obviously not true. Their FG% is so poor because they shoot so many 3s and they can't finish around the rim.
Atlanta has Bibby. Lowry wont start there.
Philly has Jrue Holiday, their PG of the future.
Detriot has Rodney Stucky already. Lowry won't start there.
Miami has Dwade at the 2. You can't start 2 guys at the backcourt with no 3 point shooting, the spacing would be terrible.
NY and LA both require their point guard to shoot alot of 3s. Lowry won't start there.
Like i said, i only see Indiana as the only possibility. Lowry will fit well there.

Did something happen to TJ Ford that I'm not aware of? Other than him being injury prone, he'd still be the starter on the Pacers over Lowry.

TJ Ford's been losing minutes to Earl Watson. Ford played a career low 23 mins this year.
Indiana's been trying to get rid of Ford for a while now.

What a shame, he was solid in Toronto, and he burned us when we faced the Pacers.
