[Chron] Aaron Brooks to be named NBA's MIP

Brooks will be the first Rockets player to win one of the league’s performance awards since Steve Francis was a co-rookie of the year 10 years ago.
"I’m happy pretty much all around (with his improvement). I’m not satisfied. I still have work to do. To win it twice in a row, that would be great. I have to become more consistent. I still want to increase my assist to turnovers (ratio.) To be up for this award, with the talent and the amazing guys that are up for this award, is an honor."
He averaged 19.6 points per game to mark the largest scoring increase, 8.4 points per game, of any player qualified for NBA statistics each of the past two seasons. He is one of three players that qualified for NBA statistics to increase his assists average by at least two per game, averaging 5.3 this season. He averaged 2.83 turnovers.

i was about to post this but checked first, good job for brooks. 6th player to get 400 asts/ 200 3s in one season and he did it in his 3rd year. if we can keep one of brooks or martin, it has to be brooks. man o man the stress that was taken off my chest last season, when he proved to be a capable becnh player to take some of the pg minutes from rafer, daam that was one of the greatest thing to happen to this team
. and then he kills it in the playoffs. i cant wait to see wat he does next season.
good to see that he's not completely satisfied w/ his play, of corse he has work to do and it looks like he'll take care of that

Congrats Brooks. You deserve it.
But looking into the future, the Brooks/Martin back court won't work. It just won't. You can't build a contender with 2 score first skinny defensive liability.(Martin more so than Brooks)
One of them gotta go. Its just the way it is.

I agree and I don't think Martin is getting traded anytime soon.

Why I don't really care: Morey won't be exec of the year.
Takes the luster off of any other awards.
(plus, everyone knows that MIP is always SOLELY about biggest scoring increase, regardless of anything else it's a guaranteed top-2or3 in voting returns)
I am happy that Brooks increased his shooting percentages by a LOT. He may not have increased his efficiency by much overall, but he also didn't have Yao (or anyone else) there to keep defenses from keying on him. The results of this year should really show up next year.

Glad to see Brooks get this recognition. Of course, he may have just priced himself out of town!

His TS% of 54% is very good for a player that led the league in threes, and someone that takes a volume number of shot attempts.

congrats to brooks. hopefully this will encourage to him to play better next season, and win another one
