Fresh Trade Ideas!

Post#1 » by Zubby » Wed May 5, 2010 6:58 pm

So this board is getting pretty repetitive, w/ everyone wanting to NOW trade Battier wait for buyout
and sign him back...

IDK why people think he would chose Houston over his favorite/dream/hometown team of Detriot.
Which he spoke of earlier and saying he would love to play there over anywhere else.

Any I'll post some more Houston trade ideas we could be looking at or that are realistic.

Most of which will involve Martin, also will be two-part trades. Idk people think Martin is not trade able and I feel that Morey talking up his shooting numbers was just to help bump up his stock.

http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.ph ... id=5512982
This one started out amazing for all teams IMO and had a lot of :o but was too hard to keep the salaries balanced. So I tweaked it a bit:

HOU sends:

K. Martin
D. Andersen
C. Hayes (:( I know I know)

receives:

Okafor
Rudy Fernandez

Portland sends:

J. Pyzbilliaasaas
R. Fernandez

receives:
K. Martin

NOH sends:

Okafor

receives:

D. Andersen
C. Hayes
J. Przyilla (I never spell this dudes name right)

Portland
A. Miller
B. Roy
K. Martin
LMA
Camby

So Portland gets a shooter to stick on the wings who isn't Webster.

New Orleans
C. Paul
Thorton?
Peja
West
Pryzbilla

New Orleans gets more expiring (had Jefferis going to them 1st) but would probably keep J.Przilla(haha) as he is a good center, to have next to West.

I guess they want expiring, maybe get a shoot at Melo next summer.

Houston
Brooks/Lowry
R. Ferdnanez/Budinger/Taylor
Ariza/Battier/JJ
Okafor/Scola/Hill/JJ
Yao/Okafor/Hill

and We get great talent and added depth. Keep the picks and still have pieces for one big trade.
Okafor moves to the 4 spot which IMO is where he should play, but in the case Yao goes down Okafor is more than able to man the 5.

Rudy Fernandez takes the starting 2 spot and makes it his own, he is one of the big time plays, just clutch.

Both of these guys play hard every play and would fit in nicely to our team.

Rudy Fernandez's value has gone to the crapper. Next year he'll probably head back to Europe. If we really want him, we could have him for a 2nd rounder. And there is no way i want him to start for us.

Okafor's value is even worse. We could have him for expiring contracts.

Poor value trade my friend.

those trade ideas would amount to the rockets trading all the great role player assets they've accumulated and instead of trading some of them away for a superstar trading them away for other role players who are worse players.

NO THANKS

haha As Rockets fans you guys should know how beast Fernandez is. Remember last year playoffs?

what about this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZ5AFbJk02w
dude has ALWAYS been clutch.
Look at his play-making, floor spacing, conditioning all superior to Martin.

David Andersen is not a Championship caliber role player. and Hayes is decent in small minutes.

Okafor instantly fits into our team.
He is a 6'10 version of Hayes w/ equal energy, heart and strength but superior everything else.
AND when Yao goes down would u rather have Andersen starting w/ Scola or Okafor and Scola...

Think outside the box of overated offensive players.

This is the prefect time to trade for them.

What great role player assets?
Andersen and Hayes?

We still have
JJ
Hill
Battier
Budinger
All the draft picks

its pretty much
Martin for Okafor and Rudy F.

And thats a bad trade. We could get either of those guys with expiring contracts or a 2nd rounder.

LMAO

No we couldn't NOH needs players around to keep CP3 happy and Portland will not hand us Rudy.

Both would require 1st and decent return.
Both of the players are proven impact players more so than Martin.

NOH would be HAPPY to trade okafor for expirings. Dude is on a terrible contract.

And I think you are drastically overstating the value of Rudy Fernandez considering his injury history and the probability(not possibility) that he will simply head back to Europe after his contract is up. Why should anyone give away any decent assets for a guy who is disgruntled, injured and wants to go home?

Okafor = terrible contract?

I don't know what league you've been watchin but 10m for a good big is the norm...
Okafor is way above average and its not the max we would have to give to other "star" players who have done nothing and dominant the ball **Bosh**

Fernandez is unhappy because he gets **** minutes and wouldn't you be unhappy too? He has proven to be good but Portland is load at the 1-2 spots. 2nd-3rd year? put up good numbers in his 2 years and inconsistent Webster gets his minutes?

BTW Fernandez has two more years on his contract and he is staying in the league.

Sorry for the double post but i just looked at the numbers... and this is most definitely a "Morey"

Okafor's player ratings besides shoot... are all better than Martin
and check this out Okafor's Foul drawing ability(the stat Morey was praising about Martin) is 17.9%
Kevin Martin's = 17.9%

Martin:
http://www.82games.com/0910/09HOU6.HTM
Okafor:
http://www.82games.com/0910/09NOH15.HTM

Meanwhile Rudy's hand rating and passer rating is higher than Martin's(of course)
His hand/playmaker rating and passer rating of last year are on par with Lowry and Brooks of this year.
Rudy
http://www.82games.com/0809/08POR4.HTM
Brooks:
http://www.82games.com/0910/09HOU1.HTM

I didn't look at the numbers on Andersen or Hayes, didnt feel the need too

The more I research the more I love this trade... I'll make another trade tomorrow in here.

Til then lets get some conversation about this, tell me how wrong I am about Martin, and show me something. :D

Problem 1. Roy HATES playing SF. He does it because he has to at times, but he will refuse to do it full time. And in Portland, what Roy wants,he pretty much gets.(Same as any other team w/a top tier player.)

Problem 2. Okafor sucks for what he's paid. His offensive game is very mediocre. He's the one big who couldn't figure out how to score when playing w/Chris Paul.

Problem 3. NO would love to get out of Okafor's contract to the point Jeffries and Andersen would be enough.

I do agree Martin could be moved, but it would be for a top tier player, not an Okafor.

Did you guys even look at the numbers??

Okafor is a top +/- player in the clutch at 16th in the league... Martin isn't ranked
Okafor draws alot of fouls put us in the bonus at the same rate as Martin.... withOUT the ball
Okafor has been playing out of position his entire NBA career...
Okafor has a good offensive skill set but doesn't get many touches,
This year 8 shots a game 53% from the field, Bosh is consistently under .500 (bad for a big)
Always among the league leaders in defense
BTW that NOH never gelled CP3 was hurt, West and Okafor played better separate.

WE STILL HAVE PIECES TO GET A MAX!!!!

All the things in bold are things Morey always looks at...

Don't get me started on Fernandez.

Yes!

48min long
and 82 of them

When was the last time Okafor missed a game?

When was the last time Martin missed a game?

How about Fernandez, when did he miss due to injury?

BTW those are totals and season averages... aside for the clutch time stats which is the last 5 min of a close game(most important minutes right?)

Okafor and Fernandez are much better.... buy them cheap

okafor aint cheap
4 years left with over 52 millions
and he got no offensive game

it's not about how many games you played is how you play them

i don't like martin myself
but i rather keep martin than getting okafor and fernandez

I don't hate Martin... just these two players are better.

Do you remember Fernandez against us in last years playoffs, dude was clutch. and he always plays clutch given minutes down the stretch.

Okafor has never been one to take many shots, his offensive is decent.
He has always been on teams with **** defenders so he has be doing the defense for two players while playing out of position.

Think of it this way

Martin is great at shooting and drawing flows.

Okafor is great at defending, rebounding, blocking, and drawing flows.
He helps ease in Yao too as he can play the 5 with Scola at the 4.

I would love to see Okafor on a good team.

Fernandez is great at shooting, always comes up big in the clutch.
Watch his games.

and like I said we still have so many pieces to trade for something else too.

Would you rather overpay Bosh(kinda injury prone) and have no other trade chips or get these two and still have an abundance of pieces left?

Return to Houston Rockets
