Are the Rox Willing to Deal K-Mart?
Hey everyone, Nets/Mavs fan here.
I don't mean to cause a stir, so if this question is WAY off-base, please don't take offense. NJ would love to add a veteran shooter to their backcourt, and Kevin Martin seems a really nice potential fit alongside Harris. K-Mart didn't thrive quite like I thought he would in between Brooks and Ariza, and rookies Budinger and Taylor both looked good.
Is there a deal that the Nets can offer for him? Something like Kris Humphries, Chris Douglas-Roberts and the '12 GSW 1st? This would shave $7mil off of Houston's '10-'11 salary cap number, and create a useful TPE.
Thanks for your time.

Re: Are the Rox Willing to Deal K-Mart?
No, I don't think that Morey has any intention of moving Kevin Martin. Some fans may not mind, but I think that he's cemented in a long-term role here.
One thing to point out is that unlike past seasons the salary cap is not an issue. Les Alexander gave Morey a green light to spend whatever he needed this season, lux tax be damned. Morey is on record saying that the Rockets will not only be in the Luxury Tax; but that they will use the MLE and that will entirely in the Luxury Tax. Les's response was to open his checkbook.
Point is: TPE's and '10-'11 cap room are not things the Rockets are interested in.

depend on the deal
our GM make it clear that no one on our roster is untradeable
but that deal is definitely NO

Re: Are the Rox Willing to Deal K-Mart?
i dont mind trading him at all, but morey has been trying to get him for awhile. even tho he says everyone is tradeable, i dont think he'll trade kmart.
tbh i dont want much from the nets. lopez and lee. w/ yao on our team, brooks compliments him more than harris.
i'd rather our team have a defensive/3pt shooting 2 guard, to help brooks, and a playmaking sf. to have 2 defenseless starting guards is terrible, dont see how this teams a contender w/ brooks and martin playing 30+mpg. another reason to keep shane.

Two things;
1. Morey worked his butt of trying to get him, i doubt he trades him.
2. I love Kevin Martin. He's becoming one of my favorite players.

Re: Are the Rox Willing to Deal K-Mart?
No. I know he isn't the best defender, but he and Brooks were a deadly combo on the offensive end (very close to being top in the league in scoring combos) after getting used to one another. By the end of the year our team was scoring 100 ppg. like it was absolutely nothing. His defense wasn't hindering us anyway. What killed us was having a 6'6 center as our best post defender. Even Battier looked average this year without anyone backing him up. When you can't protect your paint everyone's weakness gets magnified. With Yao and our 7 ft. shotblocker/excellent post defender we will be drafting
, I guarantee all of the griping about his defense will fade away next year.

Courtney Lee then, instead of CDR? In a system where he can get open looks as a 4th/5th option, he has proven a deadly sniper from long range. I think that Lee would fit your lineup well.

Re: Are the Rox Willing to Deal K-Mart?
well, supposedly at least half rox fans are sayin defense wont be a problem w/ yao back. i dunno about that, but if we're trading martin to the nets, we need more than lee. humpries will add to our undersized bigs problem, and this team has 1 or 2 years left contending w/ yao as a 30mpg player, so we need help now, not 2012 when the world the ends
there's no way we're giving up martin w/o the nets trading lopez

Kevin Martin trade discussion with the Nets starts with the 3rd pick.

Re: Are the Rox Willing to Deal K-Mart?
I highly doubt it. Martin's struggles on the Rockets weren't a result of him not meshing well with the team. It had to do with him not playing with confidence and not being aggressive. We saw what he has capable of doing in the game against the Kings at the end of the year. He should be a great fit on this team as long as he could stay healthy, play with confidence, and be aggressive. That's easier said than done though.

Unlike most here I say yes.
But it would be for the #3 or 4 pick and a full TPE-not for players.

Even I think that's a lot to give up for Martin.

Re: Are the Rox Willing to Deal K-Mart?
Bosh doesn't want to come here so screw him
trade Jeffries, Ariza and 14th pick to Philadelphia for Brand, and 2nd pick
2nd pick -> Evan Turner
C - Yao, Hill
PF - Scola, Brand
SF - Battier, Budinger
SG - Martin, Turner
PG - Brooks, Lowry
done
personally i think Morey is going after the 3rd pick to get Derrick Favors
