Can I vote for "trade"?

If not, I'll say Solomon Alabi...with a bad taste in my mouth.

P.S.- You guys who love Whiteside so much should know he spent an afternoon last week getting his lunch money stolen by a "stiff" named Hilton Armstrong.

Just sayin'.

Whiteside? Not a chance if Montajunas is available. I vote for Donatas.

Hassan Whiteside.

I also read about Armstrong dominating him in a workout, but I don't read too much into it, since Whiteside is at least a 2-year project.

Whiteside is comparable JaVale McGee, another thin, athletic 7-footer with a nice touch. He has shown with the Wizards that he has skills that can make a difference in the NBA (shotblocking & jumper) even though he's still really, really bad in some areas of the game.

Both these guys could be All-Stars if they keep on working and get the right coaching. I have to admit though, that if they don't have the inner desire to work hard enough they could be out of the league in a few years.

We have David Andersen and Scola has a good range shot.

We need a big with strong post moves and who can defend and box out. Yao's window is closing.

andersen is a career backup
scola window is closing as well
we need someone who got potential to become an all-star

motiejunas does not have potential to become an all-star.

there's maybe four potential all-stars in this draft (wall, turner, favors and cousins) everyone else in the lottery are quality role guys.

again we have enough finesse big men we need toughness.

how can you say he's a bust before even seeing him play?
remember people expect gerald green to be the next xxxx and next yyyy and he's actually the next harold miner

i think motiejunas pulling out "because he wasn't ready" is more than enough basis for saying he would have been a bust.

"not ready for nba" doesn't mean he will be a bust
nowizki is not ready for nba when he was drafted as well
of course there's still a chance he will be bust
whiteside isn't any better
i just hate it how you judge a player before even seeing him play

I'm going with Alabi. He is a project on the offensive end, but he can step in immediately on defense and guard the paint beautifully. Whiteside would be an ok project, but he will get eaten alive for at least the next couple of years trying to guard anyone in the post. We would be talking David Andersen v.2.0. We need someone that can step in immediately, and make life miserable for opposing teams in the paint, and Alabi fits the bill perfectly. Florida State was the top ranked defense in the NCAA largely because of this man, and that's the type of paint protection our team desperately needs. Yao will be needing a break this season with his minutes, and Alabi can definitely give it to him without hurting us.
