Shane and Ariza cannot be traded

there's several reasons why i wanna keep them on our team. 2 great wing defenders w/ 3pt shooting, they can pass, put up double digit points, playoff experience. they're almost the same players, 6'8 220/210 lbs. but there's one thing about them that we absolutely need...their irresistible charm. no i keed, but here's why we shouldnt trade them...
every team is stacked and prolly more stacked when the 2010-11 season starts. most teams have something unique they can use against other teams. orlando has dwight w/ 3pt shooters, lakers have a big front court, celtics had their big 4, even the warriors have that all offensive stacked team. it's like teams have some kind of "turbo charge" super power
houston is definitely stacked, but they also have a "turbo charge"...2 of the best wing defenders in the league. barely any team has something like that, we might be the only ones im too lazy to check but last i did there werent more than a handful. sure we have yao, but a 20pt big man is not that rare, there's zbo, boozer, amare, dwight. and yao isnt a sure thing aswell, dunno if he can get back to 20/10 status or if he can even play more than 25mpg.
with a healthy roster, a shane and ariza combo is something that can be brutal to other teams in the playoffs. the only good thing it does to other teams is that they dont have to face them on seperate teams, they face them the same day

. on top of that we got lowry who can defend smaller sgs and sometimes bigger ones if he needs to.
keep shane and ariza. if this roster stays healthy, deveolops chemistry, them 2 can piss off your favorite swingmen

As the way the team is built is surely a playoff contender but the need to make a move to be a title contender. We need a player like Bosh or even Boozer but i do not like the sound of doing a S&T with the Jazz. Now I am not for trading them both away unless they have another move to get another SF

it seems like we have to give up too much for bosh. to lose both our wing defenders doesnt make us a conender. if the only way to get another all star is to trade one of them then god daam all things good, so be it. but seeing those 2 in the playoffs is daam good entertainment for fans of defense, like myself

It is not over paying to get Bosh, for he is a Superstar and Battier and Ariza are not. I just don't like giving them up for together in the same deal. Like i said Morey is one smart cat and think 2 steps ahead. If he is going to give up those 2 then I am sure he has something else down the line that he will pull the trigger on. Oh man i love defense over offense. Rather have a strong defensive team over a team that is based off of run and gun

Trading one off, would make sense. But not both! Ariza is better off the bench in a reduced role. Battier is getting older, but that just means he's getting smarter. I can't see those two going anywhere. Or Morey may have made dumb move number 2 & 3.
Does anyone else love how news reports are saying stuff like "Sources close to the team speculate that......." Which actually means, "People on the RealGM Messageboard speculate that...." This offseason really is a circus. And this is really lazy reporting. I guess people have to sell Newspapers though.

we gotta push for a jj, andersen, kevin deal. throw in taylor, bud, or picks.

The thought of having two of the best foul-drawers in the league next year definitely intrigues me, but I'm not sure it makes up for KMs weaknesses in other areas. Still very curious to see how that works...

By JJ do you mean Joe Johnson? Joe is no longer a free agent, so we can not do a S&T for him. I would rather have Joe over Martin since they put up the same numbers but Joe plays better defense and this team needs more defense. The only thing is Joe was far to expensive to have done a S&T for. 6 years $119 mil is to much to give for a player like him. Joe is a good player but not a player that deserved the deal he got with the Hawks.

As a raptors fan, I can't see Colangelo wanting both and I'd prefer to let the Rockets keep Ariza.

Ariza needs to stay so that we can see what kind of 3pt shooting % with Yao drawing double teams this upcoming season. I really think Ariza will vastly improve over last season.

I really don't think the Raptors want long contracts but rather prospects, future picks, and expiring contracts.
So with that said trade Hill, Taylor, Battier, Jeffries, and future picks. Might have to throw in Hayes expiring contract or Anderson since the last year is not guarantee to make the money work.

Trade Shane and make him retire with the new team. Then bring him back as a defensive coach.

I like that a lot it that would be damn good thing but I am a believer in Shane for Congress.

we gotta give shane one last chance to be that elite defender. last 2 years he was injured, but the team also had inconsistent rosters. see if he can still play elite defense w/ yao in paint. if he's regresses badly, then he'll make for a good backup 2/3, or trade him, team buys him out, he resigns w/ us for min or something very low.
imagine kevin durant dealing w/ ariza and shne in the playoffs. not sayin they'll shut everyone down, but they'll most certainly make them work for each and every shot

I'm in favor of trading one of them but not both...

Ariza and Battier with Yao back in the middle...I like our defense

We can't trade both as long as Martin is still on our roster (unless he miraculously turns into a capable defender).
