Marc Stein: Houston Involved Four Way Talks For Chandler

Post#1 » by The Franchise_ » Thu Jul 8, 2010 5:34 pm

http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/po...f-beasley-trade

The proposed deal, sources said, would send Beasley and Rockets forward Jared Jeffries to Charlotte, land Bobcats center Tyson Chandler in Houston and create sufficient cap space for Heat president Pat Riley to offer max-contract money to Wade, Bosh and James.

I like it. We get a backup center for nothing but that would also increase the Heats chances of landing James which i don't like.

Won't happen. We can't trade Jeffries for Chandler straight up to make salaries work. To come up with the extra $3.3 million, we would have to include one of our better players (Ariza, Battier, Martin, Yao, Scola, Lowry) which ain't happening; or we could include both Andersen and Hayes; or Andersen OR Hayes and both Budinger and Taylor. Unless we are getting back someone else in the deal, it will never happen.

We have a $3.1 mil in trade exception for the Landry trade. All the Rockets have to do is agree to use it. I fill conflicted about helping the Heat in get James but this trade would make us better also

You can't combine the TPE with another player's salary to trade for another person making more.

Not sure about what you mean but all i know is that if somebody is reporting it then it is possible. I also think the Heat are sending their $16 mil TPE for Bosh. It goes something like this
Heat
Bosh

Bobcats
Jeffries
Beasley

Rockets
Chandler

Raptors
$16 mil TPE from the Heat
$3.1 mil TPE from the Rockets
maybe a pick for the Heat

That is what it seems like what the article is saying. Someone like Marc Stein would not report something like this if it is not even plausible. So i think it is Possible

i don't see how this will work without a 2nd Rockets player

you can't combine trade exception to trade for a player

Charlotte is over the cap

I think we have to give up more than just Jeffries to make it work if we cant add our TPE. Jeffries makes $6,883,800 compared to Tyson's $12,600,000. 125% +100,000 of Jeffries salary only adds up to $8,704,750. To make the trade work we'd have to add a contract like Anderson's ($2,500,000) and/or maybe a little more (like Taylor or Bud). Im fine with losing Anderson and Jeffries but I'd hate to give up Taylor just to make the salaries match.

Andersen's plus Taylor or Budinger still doesn't get it done, we would have to include both. No deal for me. It's going to come down to including someone else like Battier in the deal and getting back someone else of value on a cheaper contract, from Tor, Mia, or Cha. I don't see this happening at all though. Just another report.

No, Jeffries, Anderson and Bud or Taylor would do it.
Jeffries $6,883,800 + Anderson $2,500,000 + Taylor $780,871= $10,164,671 X 125% + $100,000= $12,805,838 = TRADE ACCEPTED

how about Jeffries and Battier for Chandler straight up?

That'd be sweet.

Toronto doesn't want to take on 3 mil in salary? They're prolly still sore from Bosh leaving.

I mean your talking about a team that just gave Amir Johnson 34 million. :noway:
