Accumulate...Consolidate

15 guaranteed contracts, but I don't think that any of us believe that Morey is done moving.

What kind of consolidation moves do you think are reasonable for this team? A lot of people are kicking Iggy ideas around; and if he can be had for some of our deep-end players or picks...holy frakking god, I will build a monument to celebrate the glory that is Daryl Morey!

Once again we need to look at what we have: TPE's, Picks, Expirings, cheap contracts; and see which teams may be looking for any combo of that.

Could Jeffries (exp.), Hill (young, good contract) and picks net us a significant upgrade at one of our positions?

Yao-Miller-Hill-Hayes
Scola-Hill-Patterson-Andersen-Jeffries
Ariza-Battier-Budinger
Martin-Budinger-Taylor
Brooks-Lowry-Taylor

Exceptions (via ESPN's trade machine):
Dorsey: $881,000
Landry: $3,000,000
White: $825,497

Picks we own:
2011 first round draft pick from New York (top 1 protected)
2011 second round draft pick from L.A. Clippers
2011 second round draft pick from Memphis
2012 first round draft pick from New York (top 5 protected)

Picks we owe:
2012 second round draft pick to Detroit
2013 second round draft pick to Atlanta

That... is a pretty solid lineup. We're two deep at every position, three deep at some. I really have no idea what kind of significant upgrades we can get. Yeah, Iggy or Granger would be nice, but... We've got tons of wing scoring from Brooks/Martin/Ariza; we've got great wing defense from Lowry/Ariza/Battier. We have post scoring from Yao/Scola and defense from Yao/Hill. We've got tons of young talent in Hill, Patterson, Budinger, Taylor, Brooks.

We're set for next year, and the next few.

Guys--we have a phenomenal situation here. Hope for an upgrade, sure, but don't be disappointed if we don't make any big moves.

Oh no doubt. This is what Morey made Ainge do in Boston.

Morey's gathering assets right now and he knows he'll facilitiate it into something bigger. Perhaps Chris Paul? It's what I'm hoping for. He always comes out of left field with big moves(remember Ron Ron?).

he was targeting Artest for awhile (he rejected the Artest for Battier+Brooks proposal)
waited half a season and got Artest with BJax+Greene+2009 1st round pick (the 1 year rent got us out of 1st round)
we know he targeted Martin for awhile too, finally got him last season
not sure who he's targeting now beside Igoudala

take a look at our roster

rookie season with Rockets
Yao Ming
Luis Scola
Aaron Brooks
Chuck Hayes
Patrick Patterson
Chase Budinger
Jermaine Taylor
David Andersen

the rest
Kevin Martin (ex-King)
Brad Miller (ex-King)
Kyle Lowry (ex-Grizzly)
Shane Battier (ex-Grizzly)
Jared Jeffries (ex-Knick)
Jordan Hill (ex-Knick)

From which trades?

so disregarding any trades this year

in the 2011 offseason we likely resign Brooks to a considerably larger contract and Battier and Yao to lesser deals and then maybe (hopefully) the Chuckster as well to a 1-2 per year increase.

Jeffries and Andersen walk.

We use a late lottery pick around 13-14 (via the Knicks) to replace one of those guys.

And then the MLE for the other.

but this will no doubt be a different picture when the time comes.

The Hawks got a 2011 2nd rounder, not 2013.

"Atlanta receives Houston's 2011 second round pick (top-40 protected) as part of the David Andersen trade."

The Grizzlies and Pistons picks are both conditional as well. Does anybody know the protection of those picks?

2011 draft picks (morey is a Genius)
