Does anyone think we can top 60?

I expect us to be a 54-58 win team next year, dependent on a few things:

- Slight continued improvement from Brooks
- "Bruises" injuries only to Yao
- Scola eats Chris Bosh's face and pastes the chewed remains onto a box of Wheaties (and draws a smiley face on it with lipstick)
- Patterson is an average PF/SF
- Martin is slightly more efficient with a real PF/C combo
- Budinger, Hayes, and Scola continue to be awesome

Here's a laughable estimate.

Player ExpectedWins @ MPG/GP
Starters
Yao 8.9 @ 28/70
Scola 10.25 @ 32/82
Battier 5 @ 30/75
Martin 4.4625 @ 34/70
Brooks 5.125 @ 30/82

Bench
----
Hill 4.484375 @ 15/82
Pitterpatter 1.7 @ 10/80
Budinger 6.15 @ 20/82
Hayes 5.85 @ 20/82
Lowry 7 @ 22/82
Lee 2.5625 @ 15/82

Its possible. I expect us to win about +54 games.

If Brooks and Martin both bulk up like they said they would, making them adequate defenders, + Yao staying healthy, YES

It'll be interesting to see what kind of odds Vegas give us. If the over and under is around 50 games, maybe i'll put in a few dollars to support the Rox.

I'm just about the most pessimistic sports fan you'll ever find but i feel very good about our team.(NOTE: for regular season only)

Yeah, I don't think we're likely to win it in the postseason either.

Outside shot, but that's about it.

Ain't no one beating the Heat this year.

if yao is healthy AND can put up 20/10 when needed, then i can see us winning 54-57 games.

i think 60 is too high for three reasons
-yao needs at least 2 months to get back to 20/10 status
-defense wont be that good until yao can play 30min. it's better than last year by default cuz yao will still play 20min. w/o yao our defense is bottom 15 at best
-new roster needs chemistry (could be trades in the season).

Defensive questions + roster changes = 54 wins.

Hope I'm wrong, b/c 54 wins probably = 5 seed.

future bets are generally a bad call because your money is limbo for like 6 months.

Let us know when that prop bet gets released. I'd put a c note on the over if somebody pegged the Rox at 50 wins...out of fan loyalty alone, of course.

I completely agree with this post.

And my vote was no. I think we'll get off to our usual slow start, then pick it up come January.

i actually think we'll have a top 5 record in the west for most if not all the season.as long as yao can play the first 2 months. the schedule is A HELLUVA LOT EASIER then it has been in recent years. the first 2 months have always been tough till this season. i really hope this team takes advantage.

last season, cleveland led the league with 61 wins and lakers lead the west with 57 wins.

i don't see houston winning 60 games. specially in the western conference where the 1st seed and 8th seed is only separated by 7 games. even if yao is healthy and comes back strong, there are just too many inconsistencies that occur in the season.

I think realistically, we are going to be looking at around 55 wins, we never were known for being a great regular season team. and we go through our ups and downs, inconsistencies, and we have a bad habit of playing down to a level of a bad team.

with that said, houston has to be at the top of the western conference standings to prove they're legit. but at the same time it's all about the post season. i don't want to be like a cleveland team who won back to back 60 win seasons and they can't make the finals. its all about the post season. give me 16 wins in the playoffs!!!

Agreed. Adjusting expectations to 54-58.

Got bit by the optimism bug yesterday.

I don't know what you're accusing me of, but it's scurrilous lies.

That wasn't me. Must've been Kam; he's the Aussie.

I can't think of a 3m/yr player that's ever made it through the NBA that didn't produce AT LEAST 15/7/3/1/1 on 48/40

You should have set your expectations a bit higher

more like about .5 blk, stl and 3s, closer to 40 fg%, 35 3pt% . i didnt expect an all star but a decent backup who'd still be effective w/ a bigger role than he can handle, of corse killing his efficiency. w/ no yao i figured he and scola would compliment each other well. didnt know 245lbs is too thin for him, usually is perfect for a pf. he speaks so highly of himself "i think i can play with yao next season"

i learned from my mistake...never trust an aussie (except kam of corse)
