Now that he is Healthy (and I know he makes us a Ton of money world wide) Should we look to deal him. I not saying for just any package, but should we look at Moving him and get a Kings Ransom in return. My fear is if he isnt the player he was before and he hangs them up we get nothing in return. We have a nice young core and does Yao fit in with the new Core. We all know he is not an uptempo guy. So if we where to deal him Bug IF, What would we want in Return? Please be reasonable.

no way we trade him, he is more than just a star player for this organization. And even IF we decide to trade him well not get star player for him because he has question mark on him.

Rather keep Yao and go back to a half court set.

Just remember you wont get equal value in return.

yeah his market value is low right now. there's no way we can make a trade that would be, what the rockets would feel as equal value or close even with his $17 mil expiring. Whether he plays like the #1 center in the league or misses 82 games, the rockets are going to ride with Yao this season. Plus in a business standpoint, he does bring a lot of of money with him.

I guess after this season is over would be a more interesting scenario.

This is an old topic that's been answered a million times.

- He won't be traded as he brings in too much money and opportunity.
- As far as winning, he is a well-above-average player.
- The winning he provides isn't quite proportional to his salary, but it's not bad.
- As far as being injured, he's somewhat below average for a franchise-paid guy
- You do need a better supporting cast around him due to his weaknesses, as compared to say LeBron.
- It's impossible to get equal value, especially right now - basketball value doesn't make up for financial value - and you won't even get basketball value.
- Did I mention that trading him is completely out of the question? Because it is.

C'mon wadero, you should know by now how many times this question's already been brought up and shot down.

Plus in a business standpoint, he does bring a lot of of money with him.

You got the importance priorities of those two points mixed up.

"Bling, bling, bling" says it all.

we should never trade yao. even if cant be an all star, he can be a very good backup center, or split the minutes at center, like big z w/ the cavs. and ya he's makes this franchise richer w/ china and everything.

He's as valuable as Dwight Howard. You can get Bosh or Wade or Anthony for him.

Noah/Deng for Yao/Battier

We aren't and should not trade Yao. There is no chance we get equal value in a trade, and the upside of him with our supporting cast is greater than anything we could accomplish through trade.

It'll definitely be one of the more interesting stories for the upcoming NBA season, and I'll be looking forward to that. I don't think Yao himself even knows if he can regain his All-Star form. He's one bad injury away from retirement, and I doubt any team would be willing to gamble on that. But suffice it to say, the Rockets should be looking for an eventual successor to build around. It's unfortunate, because no one really can know what could have been if Yao didn't collapse in that playoff game against the Lakers two seasons ago. The Rockets seemed poised to make a splash in that series.

I think that Yao will be offered an appropriate contract at the end of this season by the Rox. Certainly not max but not the mle either. If he playes 65+ games and puts up 16/8 ish numbers i think that 10-15 mil per year depending on incentives and length of contract should be a reasonable deal for both sides.

Yao is still in the league? More likely he's gonna get injure in the same foot and then retire by the middle of this season.

Yeah, let's trade the old bastard.

So, which player in the neighborhood of +12 to +15 wins a season do we target?

For Rudy Gay and Mark Gasol I would drive his big ass to the airport. I love Yao, but I love the Rockets even more.

As it is said every time this comes up - Yao's not going anywhere. He is to valuable off the court and for non-basketball purposes. Throw in the fact that when he's healthy (I know that is a big red flag) that he's a damned good player and it equals Rocket For Life.

I won't be surprised if he is extended at some point during the season.
