Yao will have best season yet

Yao is set to have his best season yet, on a per minute basis. The 24 minute cap will liberate him. He won't have to worry about foul trouble at all, and will be able to go harder in the post and on defense. Your thoughts?

If he's fully healthy then yeah, I think he'll have the best per36 stats of his career.

He's not the same of years ago, he's a little slower. But I hope he gets in shape soon

I hope you are right. He hasn't looked bad in the preseason.

Yea he should be limited to 24 minutes so rockets can play more of a team game and not be so reliant on him. Since 1) he's gna fatigue in midseason if logged 40 mpg (like in the past). 2) by midseason if he logged 40mpg rockets would be reliant to his offense and he will fatigue and be less efficient. He would also then have to adjust not having him as their core player since he's not going to have an effect who rockets can rely on each game. Not to mention his high risk of injuries. SO this was a good move by daryl morey. with 24 mpg he should be more efficient in his stats since it's such a long season anyways.

totally agree, koopa.
I think that this limit will be good, and that it won't be as concrete as some are fearing. That said, I think that Yao will see less than 24, rather than pushing for more. I think that he'll be more efficient when he is in...and more importantly in more games (and the playoffs)!
This multifaceted Rockets team will be tough to plan against for opposing coaches.

At first I thought "No way!" but that's not that unreasonable. I'll guess 14/7/1.5 in 24 mins.

20/10/2 in 30min...when rick realizes the rockets are a lottery team with yao under 30min?

Question: will Yao starts or come off the bench? If he's going to play 24 minutes, would it make more sense getting him off the bench?

yao's gonna start. we need him to help set the tone for the game. dont want defenseless brad miller on the opposing teams scoring center, then have yao come in and try to stop cool him off along w/ everything else he needs to do.

Not with the minutes he's playing. And besides if he has his "best season yet" that'd mean a pay day the like of which the Rockets would want to avoid. Simply put...the Rockets hand Yao a max contract and the franchise is doomed for the duration of said contract unless Yao retires.
