Post#1 » by brooks4life11 » Thu Nov 4, 2010 10:07 pm

scola has proven he can be a 20/10 player as the number one option
brooks is only going to get better and lowry to
martin is also a great scorer
honestly we dont need yao. we should trade yao for a young big man like favors or griffin

4 games played out of 16? or 82? i know nfl has 16 games, so if we play 16 games this season, we shall all join in a mass suicide to show how much we care for this franchise.

or we can getta big black guy and build around him. those long, strong defensive arms, who's gonna score on us? i'll tell you who, no one. just get a buncha big black guys.

Don't forget, Scola's older than Yao.

By five months, but still...

Trade Yao? C'mon son! This aint 2k11. You can't trade Yao nor would Les even consider trading Yao. The man is a gold mine. I could be wrong but I think Les was losing a lot of cash before the Rockets drafted Yao.

I know Les wants to win but lets be honest money comes first and Yao brings in a ton. And besides... who the hell would we trade him for? There is no other big man available that would be an upgrade over Yao anyways. Plus the Rockets would lose out on a TON of ticket sales with Yao gone.

We just got a BBG. And Lopez (either one) is not black.

I'm open about the notion of trading Yao (although everyone and their mother knows it's not going to happen). I think he's awesome but I just don't have the confidence in his health. The guy isn't getting any younger that's for sure.

But lol @ the notion of building around Brooks and a 30 year old Scola. If we're going to trade someone I would rather it be Brooks. I like him but he's not franchise material.

I'd trade Brooks or if we don't trade him, then he needs to come off the bench. I'd start Lowry cause he will get the other guys involved. Brooks looks to shoot first and pass second. He doesn't make his teammates better.

With that being said, i don't mind trading Yao either. We just need to make sure we get a great deal for trading Yao and Brooks.

Rockets aren't a quick fix team. Now this post isn't an overreaction due to the fact that we are 0-4. I think we are a playoff team. But at the same time, we are far from being championship contenders as much as we as whole may hate to admit it. The 2010-2011 Rockets Team is similar to the early 2000 rockets... you know... the stevie franchise era with cat mobley and coming off of the hakeem era. We are in a similar situation with Yao where injuries has basically took the next great center and reduced him to a role player. We are not going to win a championship with yao only being able to average 22mpg. and sadly Yao is just playing to play the game til he calls it quits.

I love brooks and martin but they are pretty bad defenders. their quickness and scoring maybe dangerous but your not winning with your backcourt defense playing like that. Battier is getting up there in age. I mean we can't really build around scola... he's what 30? 31? something like that... Brooks and Martin are young but as i said defense will always be an issue with them. It's a young team and i guess we just have to see with Morey does with them.

But as far as trades go... this isn't a quick fix team. Carmelo isn't going to make this team championship contenders. and who are you really going to get in return for yao? i mean im sure some team would love yao even for 22 mintues a game but they're not going to be generous in their trade.

i just saw the heat and hornets tonite. cp3 is unreal. the guy makes each player on the hornets look like an all-star. he always finds the open guy and drives the opponents nuts. the heat had to double up on him to get the ball out of his hands. he was so effective. he made ariza look like an all star. i wish the rockets could get him. too bad the hornets are winning. i would trade brooks, batter, jeffries, budinger, and two 1st round picks for him. :)

Why doesn't this team just trade Yao for Melo straight up and then trade Brooks for a center? I know that it's not good from a business standpoint because the Rockets would lose their Chinese fans, but from a basketball standpoint it would be great for the Rockets.

you're right, how the **** could i leave out d12 and duncan? apparantly when i made that post, i was what most people refer to as, "out of my mind".

THIS, is what the starting lineup should be...

pg - lebron james
sg - lamarcus aldridge
sf - tim duncan
pg - dwight howard
c - roy hibbert

how the **** could i forget about the goat pf tim duncan, and the near pefect big black guy, dwight howard? i am terribly sorry for that inconvenience. i beg for your forgiveness sir, because i can assure you, FAR BY, with the UP MOST sincerity, that it will never happen again.

I agree we need to deal Yao.

I disagree about building around a PG who turns the ball over that much, doesn't play defense and doesn't really do the things a PG should do.

Keeping Scola is fine but he's 30 and not someone you should build around like say a top draft pick.

Other than Scola, Budinger, Lee, Hayes, PP and Lowry. I think everyone should be expendable if it lands us a superstar or a really high lottery pick.

Rockets really need to find a backcourt that can defend.

If you're going to trade Yao, then you must get the following in return:

1) Someone who provides an equal amount of revenue for Les Alexander, both on and off the court; and

2) Someone who allows Les to maintain a foothold in the world's fastest growing economy

Do both of those things, and yeah, Yao could be traded. In the meantime, don't freak out too badly when he's signed to an extension during this season. ;)

Not sure why people want to trade him. Yao is one of the best at his position and this 24 minute thing is the team doctors doing. Yao breaks his foot again then he retires but if he is health all season then he comes back next year playing regular minutes. Yao will not be getting max money of anything close to it so I say do it.

Although ideally I would love to keep all of those players mentioned (especially Scola lol) I think everyone on this team in expendable if it means we can land a superstar (probably wishful thinking on my part). They're good solid players and all but by no means are they franchise type players.

I think at this point we should just say f*ck it to the whole 24 minute limit thing with Yao. I think he's looked pretty decent in his 24 minutes of play so far. If he gets injured again then so be it. But playing him the entire game would at least showcase him in the unlikely event that we're going to trade him so we can at least get more value in return. And obviously it will give us a better record overall. This team is just not **** enough to tank and get a high draft pick so we might as well aim for the playoffs.
