Thompson for Hayes?

Post#1 » by wadero » Mon Nov 15, 2010 2:52 pm

Would you guys consider trading Chuck Hayes for Jason Thompson from the Kings? Kings are shopping him.

to be honest im not sure if id go for this. do you think sac wants to give up a 6'11" forward/center for a 6'6" forward/center. i bet theyre looking for guards or wingmen. i think chuck is one of our most underrated players. he comes in to shut down the bigs (garnett, stoudemire) that scola or hill have trouble guarding. ill give them jeffries for thompson!

nah, i think thompson is going to be a good pick-up for whoever lands him but i wouldn't do it. Only because we need chuck since we don't have strong interior defenders. He really changed the game last night and after he shut amar'e down the knicks began to play stupid ball and started jacking up shots. Besides like the poster above said they're looking for guards and again while I would be willing to give up one of our guards we can't right now due to injuries unless they're interested in j-taylor which I doubt.

Rockets are the only team who actually rates Hayes.

Kings seem like they're shopping all their bigs. Thompson, Cousins, Landry. Definitely one of them has to go. I'd rather get Landry back. Cousins would be good too.

Even better, how about Thompson for Jeffries? You guys get an expiring contract in Jeffries. Sounds good to me.

I'm not a fan of Thompson, but I think he would be good for this team because of his size and athletic ability. I would rather trade JJ for him than Hayes though.

Sacramento will not take Hayes or Jeffries for their former 12th-overall pick.

Ya think?

Some of these proposals are off the wall. I'm not sure Morey should be trading with the Kings anymore anyway, as the Kings have been systematically offloading their softies and problem children for Rockets grit and youth for years now. Three years ago the Rockets were the toughest most resilient team in the NBA. Now they are a collection of skinny floppy guys without any fire. But hey, the numbers all look good in the ole computer program right?

Thompson is slated to make 2.1M this season, and 3.0M next year, so saving money, unless they're unloading someone else like Udrih doesn't make sense. That would eliminate Jeffries IMO, which means they'd do Hayes for Thompson? While I guess each brings different skill sets to the table, if they're trading Thompson, I'm not sure Hayes would be what they're looking for? I mean, while it seems Thompson has fallen out of favor, and a change of scenery is needed, is an expiring Hayes, when they already have Landry, Cousins, Dalembert, D.Jackson (playing minutes for them), and alebit Whiteside what they'd look for in return. I mean Thompson is still a 6'11 twenty four year old big man coming off a season in which he nearly did 12-13 points, and 8-9 boards.

The only reason why the Kings would do that is that they believe Hayes could better equip their backup 4-5 positions, and there was nothing else of significant value that teams were offering.

Hayes > Thompson...if anything, the Rox should get more than Thompson for this trade.

Joe Alexander was taken 4 spots ahead of Jason Thompson in 2008 and now he is out of the league. Jerrod Bayless was taken one spot ahead of Thompson and he's been traded twice in the past month. Once for a conditional first rounder from New Orleans and again for Jarrett Jack.

Hilton Armstrong was the 12th overall pick in 2006
Gerald Henderson was the 12th overall pick in 2009

Thompson is much better than either of them but being picked 12th doesn't really matter I think.
