Re: Jordan Hill
I feel better about him now then I did in the summer league. He still makes bonehead plays and falls asleep on d occasionally. But he plays hard, blocks shots and he's continued to improve his mid-range game. I like j hill

Re: Jordan Hill
Jordan Hill is benefitting from increased playing time, solid veterans around him and the chance to develop chemistry with his teammates on the court. I do think that he is a work in progress, but he shows a lot of promise.
Yes, I think that he has a future in Houston.

Re: Jordan Hill
Last year I was impressed with him. I was excited to see what a summer with the Rockets would do to his game. I feel he hasn't taken that leap I was expecting. I like what Jordan brings to the team, however I don't see much improvement from his first season.
He still has below average hands, Lowry gets angry at him because he misses passes.
His post moves consist of 1 right hand hook and a strong dribble and spin to the basket. I like his shot though his shot mechanics are great.
He runs the court well but never seems to know what to do on the break if he gets the ball and is ever so slightly impeded by a defender.
His court vision is pretty terrible especially when he is at the High Post which sucks because Rick's Offense essentially starts at the high post.
He starts off slow when he checks into the game often confused. It is only after a couple minutes of playing time does he get his head on straight.
He has all the tools to be a good player but sometimes it looks like he is just going through the motions. He goes through the motions Hard, he doesn't loaf out there let me add. My biggest concern is It never looks like he is enjoying the game, there is no fire in his eyes. Seriously, there is always a vacant look on his face even after a dunk. He doesn't seem to have love for the game which you absolutely need to get better in the NBA. He had a chance to work with Hakeem over the Summer and just kind of missed the Big Man Camp inexcusable if you truly want to get better.
Knick fans exaggerate saying he is a bust. Rocket fans overreact saying he is our future center. I think the Rockets would flip him to another team in a second if something comes up. I think he fills the gap the Rockets have: a big guy in the middle who changes shots can run and get rebounds. nothing more.

Re: Jordan Hill
^^ morey said hill has been lacking any fire, either have it or you dont.
his future in houston depends on how much he develops and on trades. if this team keeps struggling then he's definitely gonna be in trade talks. and we got patterson so that makes it 6 bigs. but his potential to be a defensive/rebounding big is one thing houston needs.
i don't like that he's still 235lbs. i was sure he'd put on 5-10 lbs in the off season. as long as brad miller fits with this team it shouldnt be a huge problem. not like we'd put a 245lb hill on the center and miller on the 6'9/6'10 pf. already saw how that turned out vs ny.

Re: Jordan Hill
I pretty much agree with what dream said(besides the whole fire in his eyes thing, he plays hard so I think hes good, not every player has that fire look to them). Do I like him, yes, do I see him as a starter, not even close. The thing about his hands is it seems like he's already trying to make the move before he even has control of the ball sometimes. He's a solid bench player who deserves to play, nothing more and nothing less.

Re: Jordan Hill
what i noticed about jhill is that he actually can handle the quick pass. i used to always see him fumble it which would cause a turnover or bad shot. if he worked on his hand eye coordination it shows. keep working on that outside shot and put on just a little bit more muscle and he'll be all right

While with the Knicks, he certainly showed 'fumbling and bumbling' lol. Hope he does better with the Rockets, but for a #8 pick he didn't show much with the Knicks and that's why fans consider him a 'bust'.

But the Rockets didn't get have to give up hardly anything for him, so they're not considering him a bust.....at least for now.

I liked what i saw in Pick and Roll situations with Ish Smith Vs Indiana. I thought he played quite well.

Re: Jordan Hill
Last game he had 5 rebounds in 5 minutes. If he played 30 minutes he would have had ... someone help me with the math.

14 points 10 rebounds last night. Some blocks would have been his though.

He was solid against Phoenix. granted, they don't have a legit center. But I really liked what I saw from him.
(and the non-Rocket-specific-aging-basketball-fan part of me loved watching 36 year old Steve Nash absolutely school Ish Smith.)

Re: Jordan Hill
Jordan Hill is the real deal.
D'Antoni was an idiot for not seeing the potential in this guy.
Give him 1 more season and more play time and he can be an effective center in the NBA.
Now, that said, I don't take too much from his outstanding performance with Phoenix the other night. The Suns are the WORST defensive club in the NBA and they have absolutely zero bigs. Turkoglu (a small forward) and Frye (a guard in a center body) are their only bigs. That place is a joke and their staff is stupid for allowing lack of quality bigs on that roster.
So Jordan going off against Phoenix don't mean much. Guys like Tolliver, Luke Walton, Millsap, Cousins, etc. all go off against Phoenix.
But again - Jordan Hill is indeed incredible. Can't wait to see him get more and more time...Once YAO comes back it may be hard (Yao, Hayes, Scola, Miller) since there are 4 other bigs.

And Hill was giving extra effort against Phoenix, I believe the commentators said his family and friends were in attendance and he also went to college in Arizona. It's like how Lowry plays really good against the 76ers, Brooks against Portland etc..

Re: Jordan Hill
Thrill Hill needs alot more playing time than he did last nite against the Warriors. Scola doesn't need 40 minutes.
