Blazers consider trading away veterans

Marcus Camby, Andre Miller and Joel Przybilla are candidates to be dealt.

Any interest for Marcus Camby? with his age, obviously he is not a long term solution but he is the defensive center the rockets desperately needs. With Lowry playing the way he is and our team as a whole picking up steam, it looks like we are starting to turn a slow start to the season around. Our one major hole on our roster is a defensive big man that can protect the paint and change our whole team's defensive out looks. Camby is averaging 10.5 rpg and 1.7bpg in 29mpg. 14 years in the league and he has 2 years left in his contract for about $24mil so its not a risk contract wise.
from what it sounds like, we might be able to offer up jeffries and one or two young talents/draft picks and it would be more than enough to put camby in a rockets uniform... is it worth it for 2 seasons?
Jeffries, Hill, NY 2012 1st round pick
- blazers want young talent, jeffries is an expirer, hill is a young talent with potential, draft pick of course and by the looks of it 2012 ny pick wont be a lottery pick anyway

definitely worth it, but blazers wouldnt do it. and we should try other trades before we get an injury prone camby.

definitely worth it, but blazers wouldnt do it. and we should try other trades before we get an injury prone camby.
well from the sounds of it, it doesn't really sound like they expect a whole lot for their veterans (maybe for andre miller). and honestly camby will probably retire after 2 seasons so its not like he holds a lot of value. blazers did only trade a 2nd round pick for him. but i don't know, its just my guess...

i don't remember camby getting a huge contract extension... i could be wrong though. you could probably get flopzilla for jeffries and a draft pick. but i dont think he adds anything to the roster that either miller, hayes, or an injured yao couldn't bring.

Camby's extension is a two-year deal worth $17.7 million in guaranteed salary. The extension will pay him $8,453,250 in 2010-11 and $9,256,500 in 2011-12.
The deal, though, also features unspecified incentives. Camby's agent Rick Kaplan told The Oregonian on Tuesday that the contract contains up to $5 million in potential incentive bonuses.

Brooks, Jeffries for Miller, Batum
Batum would go ahead of Budinger to back up Shane and would eventually replace Battier as the starter. Miller would back up Lowry.

right, i mentioned he has 2 years left in his contract. i thought you meant there was an extension beyond that... but yeah thats a good price for camby, specially considering the fact big men are paid at a higher scale.

not a bad trade either imo. i know miller hates coming off the bench but he would do wonders as a back up veteran point guard. i think the most important piece to the trade is batum. with battier getting up there in age, batum would be the next "all star role player" with his defense and spot up shooting.

I would do that in a heartbeat. That gives us the true pg we need plus a starting sf who can play d, score better than battier and actually handle the damn ball. As for the proposed trade lol. its nice to see when hill has a decent game, flashy dunk or 2, a block but he's still potential and a work in progress. he's not even a consistent role player. im not saying he won't develop into one but his peak will probably not be the peak your expecting. when i look at this rockets team i don't see a team with a losing record that needs to trade everybody (like how everybody was overreacting early in the season). I don't see a rebuilding squad or a young team that needs time to develop. We have a solid roster and imo we only have one major flaw and thats a defensive big man. a big body that controls the paint. I know its only for 2 seasons but i think we can win now. we can score, its just a matter of making stops. imagine the impact camby can bring to the roster.
i dont think anybody would argue or be against camby being a rocket. i think its just a matter of the price it would take. hill and 1st rounder isn't the only possible scenario, trust me.

No thanks. I wouldn't give up Brooks unless there was another player borderline star. Why would the Rox want Miller. He is just too much like Lowry already. They both have trouble shooting from the perimeter. Batum is still developing, so that is a wait and see though he has potential. As of right now, i would only do the Jeffries, 1st round pick
or Jeffries, Bud for Camby. Once February rolls around, we can think of other trade possibilities.
