Deal is complete. Nets send Terrence to Houston, Joe Smith and two second-rounders to the Lakers, get two No. 1s and Sasha Vujacic.

http://twitter.com/Al_Iannazzone
Lakers also acquired [...] the draft rights to Sergei Lishchuk from Hou.

http://twitter.com/SpearsNBAYahoo
To make room for Williams, the Rockets will send guard Jermaine Taylor and cash considerations to the Sacramento Kings for a second-round pick they almost certainly will never receive.
The draft pick will be lottery-protected through 2017

I know nothing about Terrance Williams. I'm officially in "wait & see" mode 'til I start trying to analyze the trade.

...also seeing the whole trade will help.

Good god.

We know T Will can't shoot but he's an athletic long swing in the mold of Trevor Ariza. How is he defensively? If we trade for him, i assume he's playing backup SF for us.

His percentages suck, but he rebounds like a man possessed, it looks like... Other than that, I don't get it.

Then again, how many of us got the Lowry trade at first?

we gave away a first rounder for a struggling sophmore who got sent down to the dleague this season. a million better ways to use a first round pick, and morey decides to go with one of the worst. i should've known he wasnt that good when he was convinced after signing brad miller that houston is a contender. not even mentioning increasing yao's minutes after jan/feb. doesnt know **** abaout defense or closing games.

I dont know how i feel about getting a wingman that can't shoot. And he's a friggin Net to boot. Is Morey trying to reassemble that historically bad Net team here in Houston?

T Will has skill. He's a (very) poor man's Iguodala. Just can't shoot is all. His defense shouldn't be terrible right?

But he's a NET! A ****ing Net.

He did 14/7/5 in the last two months of the season last year. And he tore up summer league from what I saw, but I don't understand why he got in the doghouse for the Nets this season. Interesting trade though, I like it. He's athletic, a good ball handler, and creator from the perimeter. He's an OK shooter, and a good defender when he's on his game. The way he played the last two months of his rookie season was similar to a poor mans Andre Iguodala sort.

I'm assuming we're using the TPE we acquired from the Ariza trade to make this happen?

The trade is:

Houston sends: 2012 first round pick, $2.2mil of the David Andersen TPE
Receives: Terrence Williams

New Jersey sends: Terrence Williams, Joe Smith
Receives: Sasha Vujacic, HOU 2012 1st, LAL 2011 1st

L.A. sends: Sasha Vujacic, 2011 first round pick
Receives: Joe Smith

So far the structure of the trade is:

Houston sends: 2012 first round pick, $2.2mil of the David Andersen TPE
Receives: Terrence Williams

New Jersey sends: Terrence Williams, Joe Smith
Receives: Sasha Vujacic, HOU 2012 1st, LAL 2011 1st

L.A. sends: Sasha Vujacic, 2011 first round pick
Receives: Joe Smith

I think the Nets would have to send one more player to L.A. to make it work finanically.

thanks, dude!

One question - is it our 2012 first rounder or the Knicks 2012 first rounder? Knowing Morey he probably worked it out so that Houston keeps the better of the two.

If we get TWill, we have another log jam at the 2/3 spot.

Battier
Martin
Budinger
TWill
Lee
Lowry(who will play some SG with brooks back)
Taylor

Too many players. We better ship one of them out. Probably Taylor.

WojYahooNBA: Deal can't be finalized until Wednesday (Dec. 15th) because Joe Smith was a free agent signing.

Are we over roster limit after this trade?

u guys are too optimistic. he's not someone we need now or in the near future.

He does have his problems, and his stats were likely a bit inflated being on such a horrible team last season, but I wouldn't be too quick to say he's someone that couldn't help in the future. He does have an interesting skill-set, and would potentially fit at SF next to Brooks and Martin behind Battier, and if developed properly, someone that would take his spot for the foreseeable future.

Good question. We might have to wait until to tommorow to find out. Joe Smith can't be traded before Dec 15, so we'll have to wait and see.

I also checked the salaries again. The trade is final I believe. The Nets would just have to renounce Jarvis Hayes.

since he's young, athletic, and has size for a wing, he wont suck at defense. and we do need more defense, but NOT FROM THE WINGS!!! there is no way this team gets past the first round with yao playing 24min.

maybe yao wont be resigned, i'm ok w/ that, as long as there's a defensive big who can protect the paint/rebound/rip heads off to replace yao.

i dont like this trade, i hope i'm proven wrong.

Me too. Love him in Louisville and when I saw that the Nets were sending him down for a D-League stint, I was kind of hoping Morey would find a way to trade for him.

He's actually not a bad shooter. He's a bit of a chucker though and takes some tough shots, which kills his shooting %. He's very athletic, got a good basketball IQ and is a good playermaker, which makes him a good fit alongside Martin and Brooks.

What I don't like though is that the Rockets might have to waive Ish Smith or Jermaine Taylor. I hope they'll trade/buy out Jeffries instead.
