I honestly feel we need to make a trade for a big. Milsap killed us late. We need a athletic big, I would consider trading for dalembert. What do you guys think?

We need to be patient and make sure we made a trade that is a good long term decision. Just consider this season a wash and a season to get the players we need for next season. If we play our cards right, i think we can get Robin Lopez or Marcin Gortat. Those two are starters in this league and sooner or later, one of them will want alot of minutes. Thus, one of them will have to be traded. We need a center for the long term. Dalembert is an expiring deal and would be a nice rental, but i'm still holding out that we get a young GOOD center in Lopez, Gortat, or even Verajao.

Agreed, whoever we get at the deadline isn't going to push us to contender status so we need to wait for the best deal. I like Lopez but I'm not sold on gortat and varejao is another undersized average offensive player, we have enough of those. No need to rush when we aren't going to compete anyways....

What should he have said? He deserves to be a second round pick?

Be patient, we're about to be Yao-free soon, and it's going to feel SO damn good.

It was the way he said it and that wasn't the exact quote, I just didn't want to quote something that wasn't true. Chad ford also questioned his attitude, I'm all for a player who has a confident swag but I want them to be coachable.

Verajao is a defensive gem. We need more defense, not offense. We have enough offensive players. My only concern with Lopez is his back issue from last yr. though he has been pretty healthy this year.

trade for superstar? only one available now is melo
denver don't want contract
we got expired and picks
if we keep losing it's going to be a good one
or save keep our expired contract and save salary cap to sign free agents

centers:
perkins - chance is low, he most likely stay in boston
chandler - over 30
gasol - restricted
jordan - restricted
west - player option
hawes - restricted
dalembert - 30

power forwards:
randolph - 30, bad defense, better offense than scola
landry - hahaha

small forwards:
melo
butler - 31
prince - 31
young - restricted

shooting guards:
t-mac - he's still better play maker than all our players
redd - he's done
carter - 34
j-rich - 30

point guards:
parker - do you want him? i'm afraid all rockets are afraid of him

I was high on Whiteside going into the draft, then I heard him speak. He sounds like a complete idiot in his interviews. But.....

[ ] Smart
[x] Athletic/Long
[x] Rebounding/Shotblocking
[x] Young

He would've been a surefire lottery pick if he had the total package

I think we should be patient, and wait for next year. The other thing that you guys have forgotten to factor in, is the looming lockout. I say we re-sign Yao in the offseason, but do so for mid level money. I appreciate all that he has done for the organisation, however even he is a stand up sort of guy that would surely admit that his contract, and injury problems have hurt this team badly over the last 5 years.

Talented Bigs, are much harder to come by than a talented guard/Small Forward. Even with the benefit of Hindsight. You take Hakeem Over Jordan any day of the week. Because someone like Olajuwon is a 100 times rarer than someone like Jordan. (This is not to detract from Jordan, or his freakish ability!)

I say we go after Dalembert. I think he is the best "probable" big out there at the moment. I concur we need a defensive minded Big. If only we could magically make Chuckwagon grow 6 inches.

yeah just be patient. i mean im sure we can make a trade that will put this team back to .500 and/or make the playoffs but that's about it. then we'll be back to the 1st round and out team. of course we need to make moves but we can't jump the gun.

We wait till draft day, and Let Daryl work his Magic.

Jedi Mind trick here, deal there. All of a sudden we have the next "Big Thing!"

On a side note, from what I understand, this years draft looks pretty bleak.

Well one way or another our biggest concern is a big man. preferably a defensive minded big man 1st and if he has offensive skills that would just be a major plus. (and by defensive minded i mean a beast on defense). and we need a young one for the long term. I highly doubt we can get one through trade, Bogut would be a fantasy, every team knows the importance of one and nobody is going to trade theirs if they have one.

I know we can't wait forever but i think for this season, we just need to be patient. Every year in the draft a big man comes along 2010 - Cousins, 2009 - (Centers none really Thabeet hasn't done anything, but if featured Blake Griffin), 2008 - Brook Lopez, Roy Hibbert, McGee, DeAndre Jordan 2007 - Greg Oden (injuries), AL Horford, Noah, 2006 - none really, Aldridge? 2005 - Bogut, Bynum, Lee, Gortat

I wanted Camby at first but now that i think about it, it wont make us championship contenders and he'll probably retire in 2 years. Samuel Dalembert is just a bad contract. Of course for us he looks like a great player because we have no one like him but he's not the answer. I know it sucks to wait but we'll just have to. We are in a similar situation during the Post Hakeem - Pre Yao Ming days. We are in that similar era.

I still want the Chicken & Rice Stand from 53rd & 6th. which of our assets are you willing to part with to finally get that down here in Houston?
