How is Jordan Hill doing?

I am curious as a Knicks fan what you all think of Jordan Hill. He showed glimpses as a Knick and I am curious if you guys can give a scouting report of him. What player do you think he most compares too potentially in the future?

I think it's impossible for him to take his game to the next level until he adds some muscle. If he can become a gym rat, he can be really good. Not great, but really good.

We know what you're doing here.. You saw his piss poor game on NBA TV and now you're here to gloat...

Jordan Hill doesn't have the drive to be a good player in the NBA. He has the tools but he doesn't want to work.. guy looked un-interested as usual. First season showed so much Promise but homeboy only improved marginally from last year.

He's doing better than Anthony Randolph.

Not all Knick fans are trolls. I like Jordan Hill, he was like a player just passing through the night, never really got to see him play.

Why you guys so angry. You got a young starting center and traded us a broken down TMAC. LOL

I would trade AR for Jordan Hill in a second. I was just curious what kind of player you seem him turning into.

I'm not really sure about the hostility towards you here or why it's happening.

Jordan Hill is basically Samuel Dalembert. Lots of tools just doesn't seem interested in progressing beyond what his physical gifts give him.

Dalembert is much better defensively than Hill

the potential is there but yeah he is extremely inconsistent. he has a good height and length and great athleticism but there is a lot of room for improvement. i agree with him putting a bit more muscle. I think his best bet for his career is that he works on his defense (man to man and low post presence) and also his rebounding. I think he has the tools to be a very good defender and more of a scrappy hustle points kind of guy on offense. but he has a lot of work to do to even get to that point.

If he can slash more, and slip baseline on the weakside, he will score in bunches. He has to crash glass as well.

Defensively, Jordan needs to improve a lot more. Whether this comes with more muscle, or more focus. It's irrelevant. He needs to improve fast, or he WILL be shipped as a filler in some deal at trade dealine. He really has a lot of potential, and is probably developing a bit of a fan base in H-Town. he needs to pay more attention, he really does "spectate" on the court. Not a good thing.

Maybe he needs a mean streak inserted in him. A couple of good elbows to the head might bring this on.

A lot of people want to knock on Hill for not putting on muscle over the offseason but the guy was about to be a father so... I'll give him some slack.

I won't give him any slack for his **** awareness though. Someone needs to kick him in the nuts or something.

What does that have to do with him working out?

LaMarcus Aldridge has averaged 26.1 points and 10.8 rebounds per game over his past 14 contests.

During the offseason, Aldridge hired a personal trainer in Dallas who had worked with several of the NFL’s Cowboys, including linebacker DeMarcus Ware. For three months, five days a week, an hour and a half to two hours a day, Aldridge lifted weights and ran through a series of strength and conditioning work, including box jumps and lunges while wearing a weight vest.

Aldridge, who ended last season weighing 245 pounds, returned to Portland in late September at 257 and has maintained the increased weight.

He's looked like garbage as of late, which unfortunately might have hurt his trade value quite a bit.

I still think he can be good NBA role player (14/7-ish), however it'll take some time.

A big reason for his struggles has been the role he's been plugged into and the lineup he's been playing with.

When Chuck Hayes went out with an ankle injury the whole rotation got messed up and forced Rick Adelman to put Hill into the starting lineup.
Since Scola isn't very good itiating the offense from the high post, Adelman tried to run a some offense through Hill. The Problem is Hill has poor court vision, is not a good passer and is arguably the worst of all Rockets big man intiating the offense from the high post.

Another a big part of Hill's lately struggles are the players surrounding him. Brooks and especially Martin often just ignore him when he has established post position. It's somewhat understandable, but no matter how bad or ineffective your big guy is, you have to give him some touches/shots.
Otherwise their energy level goes down, they don't run as hard, don't go after the boards as hard and often lose or don't even get in a rhythm.

Hill has great chemistry with Budinger, mainly because Budinger is very effective coming off screens, which often forces the opposing bigs to help their wings and leave Hill wide open.
He is also very effective playing alongside Brad Miller, because he, unlike Scola, is very good at initiating the offense from the high post, which enables Hill to play in the low/mid post, where he's most comfortable. Also with Miller, Hill, who's much better suited guarding PF's, isn't forced to play out of position.

The overall pace with the first unit is a just little slower, the ball doesn't move as much and they don't get as many runouts, that result in open layups/dunks.

Hill just needs to get more consitent and not think as much and hard as he seemingly has been over the last few games, which of course is easier said than done, when you're put into a spot you're not comfortable in. But once he returns to the bench, I expect him to really pick his play up again, though he'll sure have his inconsitent stretches.

Here's a good NY Times article on Hill from a few days ago: http://offthedribble.blogs.nytimes.com/ ... -corollary

If I just became a father and I'm already set financially the first thing I'm going to do is spend time with my family.

It's also not that easy to pack on 30 pounds of solid muscle in the offseason unless you're taking steroids, especially considering how much running you do in the NBA. How do we know that Hill didn't "work out"? He might have not worked on his beach muscles but I'm sure he did some things during the offseason (ex. endurance & mobility work).

He's fine, thanks for asking.

i know i'm late, but so are you guys.

btw, almost everyone, if not everyone works out in the offseason. they dont just stop exercising cuz there's no nba. that should go w/o saying. not everyone adds something in the offseason.

didnt know hill had a kid, so that could explain everything, cuz we could use a bigger jordan hill next season.

Flashes of brilliance, but inconsistant.

He just needs time and to play his natural position. He would of been perfect next to Yao.

Playing him at Center is no bueno.

He has less offensive talent than Chuck Hayes, but not bad.

Do you even watch the games?

He has a jumpshot, a face up isolation drive and a spinning hook.

Hayes has a spinning drive.
