Hey guys, I'm a Knick fan and not here to troll. Last year at the deadline I was pretty upset at Walsh for taking such a huge gamble and I repeatedly said that the Morey raped us in that deal. Now looking back, barring any major turn of events (like a serious Stoudemire injury) , what do you guys think about the trade?
Would you say the Rockets still won?Is it even?Would you say the Knicks won?
I have little clue about your team's makeup and why you guys are struggling since you used to be a playoff team every year so I'm interested to hear your opinion.
As far as the Knicks it came down to this:
Felton(who is getting us 18points/9assists) /Turiaf (good energy guy) for (barring major injury this season or next) Hill and a mid or late first round pick.
For you guys it's Landry for Martin,Hill, and a mid or late first round pick.
My personal opinion is that it's even or the Knicks won out because of their success and Felton's contributions.Interested to hear more opinions. I checked out Martin's stats and they lookd pretty darn good but on the other hand he doesn't contribute anything besides scoring so I don't know.

Probably should've gone through with the Amare trade. Then maybe he'd stay here and play with Yao (who everyone thought would be back this year), Martin and Brooks.
Then you guys would really be screwed. And we'd probably have better draft picks + a better chance at Melo.

What does Felton and Turiaf have to do with the trade? Why didn't you include Amare as well? If the Knicks get Melo next season, does he count? What if the Knicks get Dwight Howard 5 years from now? Should you include him?

GUY986,
Trading away Jeffries gave the Knicks the cap room to sign Felton.
You're right about Turaif-that was a separate deal w/GS for Lee.
As to the question,I thought it gave each team what they wanted at the time.
But it's really too soon to fully evaluate the trade as there's lots left to go and who know how it will all work out.
So far Houston has Martin,Hill directly from trade.
By having the Knicks 2012 First, the Rockets were able to trade away their own 2012 First for T.Williams.
The team used part of the Landry TPE from the trade for Lee,thus gaining a huge TPE for sending off Ariza.
We don't know if Jeffries will be traded-and for whom.
We don't know how the 2012 Knicks First will be used.
To date the trade from Houston's end has ended up being:
McGrady,Landry,Ariza,Taylor for Martin,Hill,Lee,Williams,Jeffries,a $6.3mil TPE,a $1.6mil TPE and a $780thou TPE. Houston overall has done pretty well out of the trade so far.
Jeffries,Hill and a First for cap space to sign Felton,Mozgov. OK,but w/out the trade may have had enough to make a better offer to Denver.Maybe.

@guy: Knicks cleared about 10mill. in capspace with the trade (7mill. jeffries+ 3mill. Hill). The Knicks signed Felton for 8mill. and I believe they needed every penny to pull off the GS trade. Lee probably wouldn't have accepted 11mill. per year so without that little extra 2mill. the GS trade would have become much harder to pull off. Originally I wanted to include Buike and AR but since they haven't played any role for the Knicks I left them off. Without the Houston trade neither the Felton signing nor the GS Trade would have been possible.

I believe we had to renounce them or something. The one thing I definitely remember is that we couldn't have gone over the cap to keep him othterwise we'd probably have signed Felton for 8mill., signed someone else for 8mill. and then went over the cap and kept Lee. I'm not sure about the cap details but I'm 100% positive we couldn't have gone over the cap to keep Lee.
