Lior Eliyahu

Post#1 » by highrangeslang » Fri Feb 4, 2011 7:11 pm

I saw the headline on wiretap about how this guy was named a C-MVP for top 16 round in the Euroleage (Is this kind of like player of the week or Finals MVP?)

I remember several years ago that Eliyahu was affiliated in some way with the Rockets. Is this still the case? This was back when he played in a league in Israel or something. It was kind of like with V-Span, whom we were able to bring him over to the NBA when we felt he was ready (though that didn't pan out).

Sorry if there's already been discussion about this, I haven't followed the boards or the league very closely lately.
We have met the enemy, and he is us.

from the video he looks pretty good. 6'9, good height for a powerforward BUT he look small in frame. he has some athleticism, good post moves, good rebounder, good footwork... his small frame would be a concern if he plans to play power forward in the NBA. he would get bodied on defense.

Rockets own his draft rights so it wil probably be pretty easy to get him over here if we wanted to

i check his profile page his height is list 6'9.5"
i thought he was 6'8" when we drafted him
grow 1.5" so fast?
i wish all of our players can do that overnight
anyway
only watch him play in summerleague one
to me he's an undersized pf and a sf with no range
i don't think we will see him in this league
you can almost get someone as good as him in the first round pick every year

Sorry i can't see him ever making the NBA. Too weak for the 4, too slow for the 3. He has no position in the NBA.

But i haven't seen him in like 2 years maybe he is much better than before. I'm not holding my breath tho.

His chances of making the NBA aren't good due to a lack of position - he's too weak for PF and not good enough of a shooter to be a SF (although people who watch him during pre-game warm-ups say that he's actually quite good at shooting set 3's, but he almost never does it during games).

That being said, he's still a very skilled basketball player and sometimes that's good enough to be in the NBA.
