Nets Trying To Trade For Aaron Brooks
Feb 22, 2011 15:37 PM EST
After losing out on Carmelo Anthony, the Nets have set their sights on other targets.
In addition to new Denver forward Danilo Gallinari, New Jersey would also like to acquire Aaron Brooks from Houston.
Brooks left the bench after being taken out of a game earlier this month by Rockets coach Rick Adelman.

Re: Nets want Brooks
What could they be willing to give up? A Draft pick? Don't really care much about what is on that team outside of Favors and he will be there for a while now. Lopez is overrated and cannot rebound and sure he can not protect the rim. Not sure about what else they have on the Roster

I'm not entirely convinced that Lopez is a hopeless cause. He's a big body, and talented--just needs someone to kick his **** into getting 12 boards a game.

there's also a rumor in a 3 way trade where harris will end up in dallas and raymond felton to new jersey so harris might not be available. there's no way they trade book lopez.
i don't know what what we would want from new jersey that would be available other than a 1st rounder

Re: Nets want Brooks
I think the theory is that they trade Devin Harris for assets and acquire Aaron Brooks for a test drive the rest of the season getting his bird rights, but what do I know.
As an outsider, I hear all sorts of Houston rumors but a can't a read on what the asking price is for Brooks or Battier. Anyone able to fill me in with an idea of what you guys are looking for in return?

Personally, I think they're really thinking about getting DWilly in 12', so they want to get rid of Harris who is gonna make like 8,8,9 mil over the next 3 yrs. Also, Brooks is a no risk $ gamble since they wouldn't have to offer him a contract if they feel he isn't a fit by the end of this season. You know the Nets are planning to save some $ for a superstar considering their new arena and all, so they will want some cap space.

but for Brooks, hell yeah i'll take Lopez.. at least he does a better job of finding a way to score than Miller.
