With another late-season injury, the Rockets will make another call to familiar fill-in Mike Harris, a person with knowledge of the decision said Monday.
Harris, who had completed his season in China, had been considering offers to play for the Rockets' NBA Development League affiliate or in Puerto Rico when Rockets forward Chase Budinger sprained his left ankle Sunday against the Utah Jazz. He is expected to sign with the Rockets on Tuesday.
Harris, a 6-6 former Rice star, has played in 25 games in two previous seasons with the Rockets, averaging 3.5 points and three rebounds in an average of 9.6 minutes. He also played five games with the Washington Wizards last season.
Harris helped key the Rio Grande Valley Vipers run to last season's NBA Development League championship and went to camp with the Rockets this season before he was a late cut in favor of a third point guard, Ish Smith.
