See above. China got Yao where he is now. They can suck it.

Yao's pretty much told them that it is time for new stars to rise for China. He is a very polite man, and that was a very polite way of telling them to f#$@ off.

I have to wonder how much Yao's playing schedule early in career contributed to the unfortunate situation he's in today.

Do you remember how the first few years in the league, he was rarely injured and actually missed remarkably few games? But he played pretty much year round in the NBA, Asian league, olympics, etc etc. Maybe it wore him out.

Yao's year-round schedule for so long most definitely led to the problems he has had the past few years. You can't be that big and play without rest for as long as he did.

I just hope that he isn't rushing himself for next season. I'll be fine with Yao not playing until after Christmas or even the All-Star Break. The team, from here on out, needs to be built without him as the focus and when he does play again it will be like a bonus.

(Yes, I am that confident that Yao will be back as a Rocket next season, barring work stoppage)
