Monta Ellis

Post#1 » by manun » Tue Jun 28, 2011 12:15 pm

Before everyone starts puking. There are rumours that he wants out of GSW.
I actually think he could fit in the team even thought I understand if hes a big nono.
But seeing how k-mart really doesnt require the ball to get his points and what we are lacking is a big time scorer I think Ellis wouldnt be that bad option.

A combination of:
Thabeet (or Hill) + C.lee + Lowry + first round pick would probably net us Ellis without any problems.

Yao (if we resign him cheap) / Hayes / Donatas / Hill
Scola / Patterson/ Hill
Morris/ Budinger/ Williams / Parson
K-mart / Dragic / Williams
Ellis / Flynn / Dragic

With K-mart + Ellis we would get 40 + point production and if Yao is healthy 15 points. Scola will also get his points seeing how his game is not being ball dominant.
Defense would be a problem, but if Yao focuses on defense instead of offense it wouldnt be that horrible.

Whose gonna run the team? I wouldn't trade one of the best contracts in the NBA (Lowry) for a knucklehead like Monte

I don't think GSW wants Lowry if they have Curry already.

excatly. I actually don't think it would be that bad of a trade if k-mart wasn't garbage on defense. The reason why the warriors need to get rid of steph or montae is because they're a liability on the defensive end when they play together. It would be the same way in Houston. I think montae is a very good player who gets a lot of undeserved hate but I think while he gives us the go to scorer we need he adds to the weakness we already have on defense.....

especially w/o adelman, we're gonna need someone who can run the offense. monta is a sg, can make some plays but not a true pg.

also there should be a defensive starting sf if monta is starting sg since he's undersized

also monta/martin in the backcourt would give the opposing guards career highs.

monta's a baller but he doesnt fit our team well.

ok, off the top of your head, name every team thats ever won a championship with a me-first scoring point guard who doesnt play defense, an efficient sg who doesnt play defense, and a nice 3rd option pf who doesnt play defense.

i'll start.

Seriously though, Kyle is better than Ellis, and on a cheaper contract.

I'd also rather have Martin than Ellis, in spite of thinking that Martin needs to be moved.

I dont think Ellis is really trash...
Dude can ball, I know his D is the main concern but you think we could get anything better without losing the whole team. I like Lowry, I think hes a top 15 PG without doubt but the main concern is that our team needs consistent scoring and we only get it from kmart which also is injury prone.

Monta is a much better defender than K-Mart but a much worse free throw shooter

Well I'm saying you would be saving opponents points but losing your own points from missed FT's so it's probably a push between the two.

Monta isn't great on D so I don't know where you're getting that from. He regularly gets abused by bigger, stronger guards.

the problem isnt our scoring... its our rebounding and defense. those two fix scoring far better than getting more scorers...
