What are you going to do during the lockout?

Post#1 » by Mr. E » Thu Jun 30, 2011 10:56 pm

Looks to be inevitable. I fear that it will last a long time.

So...what to do to replace the NBA until it comes back?

Well...I'm working on a book right now, so I'll have more time for that. And I guess I can actually go play some basketball more often (I've got Kevin Martin's defense, Emeka Okafor's offense and Eddy Curry's desire to become a better player). Hmm...I guess I could try to add Moochie Norris' hair to my game.

So, when the clock strikes midnight what are you going to do without the greatest game on the planet?

I'm not concerned about it. The first half of the basketball season takes place during the NFL season.

Go Texans!

Ooooooooh right, the NFL has a lockout too. Well then, I guess it's back to trying to take over the world!

Narf.
We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.

Best of luck with taking over the world. I did that once, back in the 90s. It turned out to be way too much work.

As far as the NFL lockout - that one I think will be solved before the season starts...tho I wouldn't mind the season not starting 'til Week 5 to get us past the first four games!

1. Catch up on some old(er) NBA games on the DVR.
2. Watch more movies than usual
3. Eagerly await the new seasons of Breaking Bad and Dexter
4. Watch the Eurobasket 2011 (31 August – 18 September)
5. Watch the NFL ...
6. Euroleague, some ACB
7. College Basketball
8. Wait for Mad Men & Boardwalk Empire to get started

I'll stop DVRing Rockets games so I'll be able to go to sleep when I get home at night. Personally it's gotten to the point where I don't care. If you want to go to a Rockets game with a buddy and actually have a decent seat and something to drink the two of you better be prepared to fork over at least $100 a piece. These ****(the owners and players) are fighting over how to divide up the money they get from overcharging us. Screw'em.

What makes me the angriest is my last memory of NBA basketball might be the Dallas Mavs winning a title.

Like Ted Williams, I will stand at the living room window and wait for spring.....and probably saute my own liver in the process. This will NOT be good for my sobriety.

P.S. mods, can I get some sort of Lockout Immunity for my RealGM account? Seriously. I know me. Around October, I'm going to fall off the wagon, directly on to my own petard. Right up the pooper. And I'll do it on the internet, which is extra humiliating. How much Drunken Lockout Leeway do I have before you guys ban me?

P.P.S. As you can see by the Random Capitalizations, I'm already preparing for the Bill Simmons Write-a-Like offseason essay contest.

QUICK!! Somebody ask me a question about crappy 80s sitcoms!!

You bastard. You leaping, screaming pile of something that smells really bad. Do you know what you just did?

I hadn't thought of that. Now, like when somebody says "Dude, I woke up this morning and I can't get 'Sussudio' out of my head!", it gets magically drilled in to YOUR head.

I never did like you.

"Mavs win the title!" Rinse and repeat and repeat and repeat.

Die in a fire.

Guys! Basketball will STILL HAPPEN next year.

It'll just be the NCAA instead.

Quick, someone fill me in on college basketball!

College basketball is real simple. Go to Draftexpress and find out who the good players are and who they play for. Follow you alma mater if they're any good. If all else fails pick Kansas, North Carolina, Duke, but never pick all three because on of them always chokes. You can also say things like "college basketball is so much more fun to watch then the NBA" to get by, but that is completely false.

Ugh I bet Mark Cuban will be back on that show bragging about his championship.
