Tyson Chandler?

I has been reported that Tyson believes he will not be back with Dallas due to contract disputes. Dallas does not feel as if they can afford him.
I like Tyson, I think he fits that center we have been looking for for a long time... tall, long, solid defensively and a solid rebounder.
The question is how much are the rockets willing to pay to get him? It was mentioned he wants a longer contract, i think they mentioned 4-5 years? I'm not sure and I am not sure about what figures he was looking for...
any thoughts?

we have too many players except C
any rotation players can play C are welcome
not sure if McHale is going to play Patterson at C or not

since dallas beat the heat in the finals, we should definitely give tyson a look. but he is old, so we cant offer him a big long contract. either 2 years worth a lot or 3-5 years mle type money.

we need to trades

Well looking at our roster, it definitely looks like we are looking to make some trades if not one big trade. The biggest problem is that no superstar has been tied to houston, they are mostly looking to team up with other superstars. Morey would have to work some magic to make something out of nothing happen.
More than likely we would have to build through the draft and be competitive with what we have slowly, until we find a player or players we can build the team around.
For now we have to build a competitive team without locking up our salaries. I think Tyson even though he is getting up in age, can be a solid center for us for years. That's one major problem out the way and we will have some years to be able to find a young center for the future because as we all know its hard to land one. Unless of course we take the losing route for a top pick... i would hate to have to watch a losing season, its not very fun.

we don't need superstar
just need to upgrade few position
C - need a real center
PF - Scola, Patterson are fine
SF - need improvement here, love to have Iguodala or Granger
SG - not sure if we can get a better one than Martin
PG - Lowry, Goran - i love them both

We DO need a superstar. We don't need a lot of them, but you need 1. 30 of the last 31 NBA champs had a superstar on their team. The lone exception being the Pistons. We overvalue our players too much and need to package them for a really great player.
And is my memory failing me, or did Tyson Chandler and Bob Sura get in to it back when Chandler was on the Hornets? I've hated him ever since.

there is no doubt in my mind that we are making at least 2 trades. morey knows that having a 3rd string pg making 2-4mil is wasteful, and so does everyone else with peanuts for brains.

Chandler was very good last season, nearly 20% TRB, and ridiculously efficient from the floor (was even good from the line). I do think he was a benefactor of the Mavericks depth though, lets not forget Chandler has been rather injury prone the prior two seasons -- and with having arguably the best backup C in the league in Haywood, they were able to nearly split minutes in the regular season to keep Chandler fresh for the post-season. Even he mentioned last season, having Haywood be his backup, it allowed him to be free to do whatever he wanted defensively. And, I also think his value becomes more magnified next to a superstar caliber guy like Dirk (something we don't have, as alluded to by dream34).
He'd definitely improve us, we were well below average defensively last season, but I don't know if he'd be worth a long term LARGE contract when he likely won't be enough of a piece to take us to that next level (meaning a contender)? I'd be in two different minds, to see him fit with our offensive flow and make a run at the playoffs, or just let our young guys develop, keep some more flexibility going forward. He's only 28, but he's been in the league for 10 seasons, has had some injury problems...depending on some of the moves we make (something's gotta happen, right..), he could be a tremendous addition; I'd just be a little wary despite the upgrade he'd provide.
RE: Sura/Chandler. I'm not sure that happened, right? I don't think Chandler was on the Hornets during Sura's time with the Rockets. I remember Josh Howard though, **** that guy, lol.

I would love to have iguodala as our SF. Plus with Chandler at center it would seem like a complete starting lineup offensively and defensively. Still we would be short of one thing and that's a superstar. We need that one guy that we can rely on to carry this team, its take a special player.
Its been the rockets problem for a couple seasons now, we have the roster to complement a superstar. We just can't find one that wants to come here.

Want too much monies.
Too much mileage on his injury prone body.
Do not want.

If Chandler wants anything close to last year then hell no. I think I would like to have Gortat more and believe makes the amount he should make.
Either want to see the Rockets land a superstar or two or suck it up to get a top 3 pick in the draft. Trade away their best talent excluding Lowry, Lee and P Pat. Those three are young and will be good to put around whatever high end talent the Rockets can get.
I have been wanting Granger for a long while now but the Rockets would still need a superstar

Chandler might have been a Bull those years or whatever team drafted him.

Yea I'm not sure what I was thinking about Chandler. I remember Josh Howard getting slammed, that was classic.

Chandler is not worth 10 mil/yr...sorry, i'd rather pay MGasol 14/15mil yr...
Nene is better than Chandler. If we can't get Gasol, we need to go after DeAndre Jordan or Nene.

Do we go after Carter if he is an Amnesty victim? offer him the SF slot.

No....even if he wants only minimum, i just think he is too inconsistent. Grant Hill is another matter, but then again, he will cost at least MLE.

Chandler wants lots of doe. And I mean lots...
Considering he prob wants to go to Golden State (looks like 1st choice - he's even at 49ers games posing with Joe Montana lately; just google it), I say Rox focus on bringing in a mid-level star to round out the roster.
Heck, Hayes coming back wouldn't be a bad idea either..

PS- If Chandler goes go to Warriors, they're going to look to unload Biendris.
Anyone interested??
