Rockets Are Front-Runners For Dalembert

Post#1 » by bubba » Tue Dec 6, 2011 6:25 pm

Samuel Dalembert told FOX Sports Florida last week that the three teams he’s targeting are the Miami Heat, New York Knicks and Houston Rockets. It sounds as if the Rockets, with a gaping hole at center due to the retirement of Yao Ming and plenty of money to spend in free agency, are his preference at this point.

“Houston, that one is the best," said Dalembert. He later added, “I’m interested in the Rockets. They have a good team over there, a running team."

well he's had a much better health record than the other two. i dont think he's vastly overrated like most reaalgmers, but if scola's starting, playing 35+min, and we lose hayes, sammy d wont be much of a difference. he will help us get to the playoffs, cuz thats all we need to get in the playoffs - a tall shot blocking center. but thats it

if we do get one of these centers, i hope we dont pay them 15mil+. im ok with 10-13mil. u gotta spend money to get these players. short term contract of corse.

The question is what is the least amount of money he will accept and play for the Rockets? I don't think the Rockets should overpay to get him.

can dally pass at all? i haven't seen many kings games...

because if he can't and if mchale runs adelmans offense(i think i remember him saying he was) we can't have hill as his backup and have 2 centers that can't pass...we would need to find someway to sign hayes at a hometown discount too

only one advantage Dalembert have over others
ex-king

in the last X years most of our players either drafted by rockets or:
ex-king
ex-griz
ex-knick
ex-magic

only exception i can think of is Dragic (ex-sun)

EDIT

never avg 1.0apg, most is .8apg. he's not a passing big. for some reason, last season the kings wanted to try to run the offense through him. i dunno why, i thought that was one of the stupidest things i've seen in the nba.

ya i remember makin a thread about it bashing their coach. they eventually realized it was a bad idea. i dont get how something like that enters an nba coach's brain.

Morey said last week on 610 radio that he is looking for players that fit in the long term plans with versatility, so not sure if Dalembert or Chandler will be the ones....probably Nene or Gasol(if possible) since they're younger.

Nene and Gasol are the only ones worth paying $10 mil or more per season.

Rockets should have drafted him 10 years ago instead of his Seton Hall teammate Eddie Griffin.
He and Yao would have made a nice twin towers frontline.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

a while back when he was in philly i heard that's one of the reasons they dumped dalembert. apparently in practice sessions he was jacking up 3's more than working in the low post or something similar to that account..

i mean he got traded for hawes..

granted it wasn't his decision that kings coach decided to try and make him an offensive threat, but dude, you have to know your limitations.

As a matter of fact he can. I was literally shocked because I didn't just have low expectations in that area I had no expectations. He's not Sabonis or anything but he can pass pretty well considering his lack of offensive talent in other aspects of the game.

As a passer Dalembert was good, however, Westphal liked to use him as a top post up option early in the season. Not good. :-?

I'd be fine with Dalembert, but don't want to end up signing him and losing Hayes.

Dalembert is a heckuva lot better than Nene.
Morey 2020.

Hayes probably won't be around. Sacramento have apparently offered him $20 million over four years.
