Wiretap: Rockets working on a 3 way deal with L.A. and N.O.

Post#1 » by Kal El » Thu Dec 8, 2011 8:06 pm

According to wiretap, the Rockets are working on a deal with L.A. and N.O.

EDIT: Looks like it could be a done deal

Lakers:
CP3

Hornets:
Martin
Scola
Dragic

Rockets:
Gasol

Lamar Odom is involved in the deal but it was yet to be specified where his destination will be.

This could be big for Houston. Pau Gasol the more likely big man we receive however is 31. We do have a solid roster even after the trade so maybe Pau can elevate us to the next level. Bynum also a slim possibility is often injured and in my opinion vastly overrated.

source say if we do get Gasol, Morey will go after Nene next

WT having us involve trying to get Jordan

so
C - Nene or Jordan
PF - Gasol, Patterson
SF - Morris
SG - Lee, T-Will
PG - Lowry, Dragic, Flynn

I don't know... if this goes through, this trade makes a bit of sense to me. Scola is 31 as well. Kevin Martin is great, but he gives up as many points as he puts up. The rules change someone else posted doesn't help Martin's game either.

This means Morey feels comfortable with Courtney Lee starting. We lose depth though at the 4 and 2, but with Scola gone and Hayes probably gone too, Patty Patterson/Jordan Hill and Morris will fight for the starting 4 spot. We just retooled for Mchale to groom a lot of youth in the next year or so. Consider this not as a means to get to the playoffs this year, but deliberately tanking, albeit with some grace and dignity, and I don't think it's a bad plan.

And the Hornets, they will probably let David West walk if they get Scola.

Neither lineup is very impressive and would probably only net us 5-6 more wins and a 1st round exit. Kucf helping the lakers win more rings just so we could be slightly above mediocre. Very lateral like move imo.

No way we help the Lakers win more.
This just horrible trade for us, like red96 said we can win with this...

unless Twill turns into a beast, and Donut & Morris are way above average.

Hope you guys do not do that trade, Gasol can not lead a team by himself so you will just be stuck as an average team.

Bulls fan, just gonna say...

Size beats small talent. Nene + Pau would be tough to stop since you have unselfish shooters and defenders on the perimeter.

Dalembert would be a mistake though.

If we get another big I don't think this is a terrible trade. The Lakers aren't the only team we play against. If the trade off for this team getting better is making the Lakers better then I'm all for it.

I'm seeing Houston in way too many (Please Use More Appropriate Word) Twitter trade rumors.

Think I'll close my eyes and wait for Christmas.

We all know that's a lie. I'm glued to this stuff like herpes on a Kardashian.

i do not want to be in 100% rebuild mode. compete AND rebuild should be our plan. we have too many good players to not try to make the playoffs

Beats helping the Jazz, I guess.

Here's the thing, i enjoy watching Kevin Martin play. He entertain me like no one is. Nothing makes me laugh more than Martin flopping his way to the FT line. I dont want to see him go entirely for selfish reason.

Somebody refresh my memory on NeNe... is he a solid defender? I don't remember him being one. Im not sure if I want to pair him up with Gasol. Deandre Jordan on the other, it would be very similar to Bynum/Basol combo. Only Deandre is a poor mans version and that's not saying much because i consider Bynum vastly overrated.

As far as the trade goes, the only thing that scares me is Gasols age. He is not young, this move means we are making a push now and we are far from being contenders even with the added size. Getting rid of Scola is not a big deal. He is not a good defender. KMart as much as i like him offensively, its true that he will give up as much points as he will put up.

C: Big Man
F: Gasol/ Patteron
F: Morris/Budinger
G:Lee/ TWill
G: Lowry/ Dragic

On one hand, we improve out biggest need since Yao's injuries and that is size. Size has been our biggest disadvantage and it has affected the rockets culture defensively. On the other hand, some people are righ when they say its a lateral move. We might get better and make the playoffs but we still lack a superstar. Unless Morris knows something we don't, this trade just makes us a playoff which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Scola and Martin doesn't do much for us in the future.

I can't see how this makes sense either. By giving up Scola and Martin, we give up 40 points per game in scoring. It kinda makes senses if we retain Hayes AND get Gasol or Bynum. But as has been pointed out, Gasol is 31, so losing Scola for Gasol is a lateral move, because lets face facts, Gasol plays better as a PF not as a C.

If we got someone like Nene to play C, then possibly it does make sense. Montie can stay in Europe, and Patterson gets more court time. Or do we go after David West? do we look to sign another Free Agent SG? (I like Lee coming off the bench as a high energy 6th man) I understand it is a shortened FA period, But I think we are better off counterpunching to other teams moves, I notice there has not been much said about Dwight Howard the last couple of days, and it looks like Chandler may go to NY.

I don't know what I hate more. This truncated period before training camp. Or the word/s Source or Sources.
