I still think the Lakers and Rockets could make a deal for Gasol, giving the Rockets a center with Patterson or Morris at PF. I wanted your insight as to this deal:

Rockets deal Lowry and Scola to the Lakers for Gasol and a number one in 2012. Basically, you are getting back two number ones from the first deal you made and also keeping Martin. The obvious difference is the substitution of Lowry for Dragic. Please let me know what you think. Thanks.

The Rocket Management see higher value in Lowry than Martin. But LA throwing a the Mavs pick and Rockets keeping the Knick pick may add some balance to the trade. The issue is the original trade with Scola and Martin provide additional cap space for Rockets to sign either Nene or Marc Gasol (bigger offer than 58 million). Now they had signed with other teams, there is less motivation to do such trade.

How about some much needed youth for the Lakers instead?

First of all we want to keep Lowry and why would the lakers downgrade at the pf position for a starting PG who is not a star?

As has been mentioned already, the point of trying to get Gasol would have been to pair him with his brother or Nene. Since that can't happen now there is no point in making that trade (especially sending Lowry out).

I don't want to trade Lowry. I think a Scola/Gasol frontline would work well together actually.

If that's your strongest argument, a random clutch three he made over 1.5 years ago, even Zydrunas Ilgauskas would have a positive trading value.

Mwp is a myth now. Even a few years ago with us he was overrated he's slower and his man d has been steadily declining... He still has some good defensive performances but it isn't even close to an every night occurrence. And he's still an idiot

O and as to the ops trade hell no! It won't help us now and we won't give up Lowry. Best to trade Kmart and Scola for picks and youth in my opinion

Random? that 3 was in the final minute of Game 7 of an NBA Finals. in a game where Kobe shot 6 for 24. He also hit another clutch 3 vs Phoenix that playoff run. He's not the player he once was but he is still a starting caliber SF.

Martin and Scola will probably get traded at the deadline. When contenders are looking for that extra bit of firepower to push them over the bubble.

If the Rockets want Gasol that badly they should just offer Kev and Scola for him. I think that trade would make the Lakers a more complete team because Scola would go to his natural position (I know that he played pf here, but he was next to Chuck) and they could start Martin instead of Fisher.

Start Martin instead of Fisher? Even at his current age Fisher is probably still better defensively than Martin. Who would start at the point then? Kobe? Greatness aside, He's way too selfish to play point guard. It's bad enough watching games where he shoots the lakers out of the game when he has an off night, this would just give him an excuse to do it more often...
