http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpp/sports/ ... or-batteryHouston Rockets guard Kyle Lowry has been charged with one count of misdemeanor battery by the Clark County District Attorney's office in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Las Vegas Justice Court issued a summons for Lowry to appear before it on Feb 2.
If convicted, Lowry faces up to six months in the Clark County Detention Center and/or a fine of not more than $1,000.

I don't know the last few games he's seemed so intense at the end of games, it's looked like he's really angry to me.
Of course your right I've never seen him get in someone's face after a hard foul or anything
I'm trying to be unbiased about this because I HATE when people are homer apologists(I.e. people that try to justify bynums foul or any Kobe/lebron apologists), BUTTT I find my mind trying to justify his actions and making the women he threw the ball at to be the bad guy. Like that it probably wasn't as bad as she says and that she's doing this so next she can sue him for easy money...
I'm a hypocrite:/

I need to see a pic of the female ref in question to decide if she deserved it or not.

Throwing a ball at someone does NOT constitute battery in any kind of reality-backed law.
However, we have our current judicial system, so if he wasn't a professional athlete he'd be screwed. As is, he'll just be out a few bucks and back in business with a "record".

I guess. I've seen it done so many times that it doesn't really strike me as much of a big deal....
Hell, I've lost my cool playing ball, and I'm an extremely easygoing guy.
There's limits and there's limits, but it's not like he did this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-NDZGtU7SoShe effectively lost at dodgeball. Little kids do it all the time. Not saying it was right that he did it, just that it's 10,000% not lawsuit worthy.

Imo, the ideal outcome was for his club to fine him 25-100k for the bad press - much like I would expect my employer to fire me for managing to get on the evening news with a similar event - and for The Law to not be involved. No game == fine (I believe a fairly hefty one at that), so that's covered.
Like I said, he wasn't right, but The Law can't not be involved in much of anything, these days... (pry cause they're so damn broke.) I just like it when people can solve things themselves without requiring government... call me wacky

Lowry wasn't a Rockets employee at the time of the incident because of the lockout

A local Ron Paul precinct captain once said to me that "The decline of western civilization began when dueling was outlawed."

That might throw a wrench in it (though I think they got him anyway), but not necessarily. There's no statute of limitations for employee penalization that I'm aware of. Granted I've never worked in HR or legal.

I actually would believe both that, and that high school violence began to increase when sanctioned boxing matches were abolished (other things as well, I'm sure). Outlawing things people want never works (alcohol/drugs, violence, television, etc) , only regulation can - and that should probably be done at the state level, so as to avoid being overly difficult to navigate.
Minimalism is great. It just never has immediately profitable results.
