Min/Hou/LAL trade idea?

Post#1 » by FTW Guy » Wed Feb 22, 2012 4:13 pm

Houston Sends: Martin to MN, Scola and Flynn to LAL
Houston Receives: Gasol and Ridnour

Thoughts? It would tie into the Rockets' desire for Pau as well as Minnesota's desire for Martin.

Your link has Beasley, BradMiller and Randolph going to LA with Scola and Flynn
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Houston wouldn't mind it.

I'm thinking that the Lakers would prefer it if you dropped Flynn & Randolph and sent them Ridnour instead.

That's correct. Do you think that would make sense? I know the Lakers have interest in Beasley, Randolph isn't exactly getting minutes in Minnesota (Stuck behind Love and Williams) but has shown some signs of productivity when getting minutes. Miller is a non-guaranteed contract and could be waived if need be by any team.

I thought I read that the Lakers had interest in Flynn, that's why I included him there. I'm fairly certain if Minnesota had to include Ridnour they would. Their need for a 2 guard is extreme and Barea could play backup PG minutes behind Rubio still.

I was also thinking LAL could get Minnesota's Utah pick (And possibly receive LAL's back in a swap) in this trade if need be. It could be around a 15 or 16 this year.

A Lakers fan made the point that they would then have way too many players. Which is a fair statement.

What about this slight modification?

By the way love it. If Portland ends up shopping Wallace hope the Rockets could still find a way to get him

Ok I do like this one. However, a few questions come to mind. If we bring Pau over for 2 more seasons beyond this one, what then becomes of DMo? Do we move Pau back to the 5 and have the softest front court in the league? Though I would be intrigued with a Pau/Dalembert front court...

Yeah I had that thought to but I think you do it an hope you get Howard in the offseason. Bite the bullet and trade him or wait those 2 years and keep him in Europe? Did that will Sergio I think so why not with D-Mo?

Either Houston or Minnesota would have to include a pick. The Lakers are interested in both Beasley and Session, so you also have to include Barnes in the deal. There is no way LA is going to have a glut at the SF position if they can help it. You mite want to move Ridnour over to the Cavs. The pick that LA got in the deal would also go to the Cavs as well. I can also see LA making sure they got a pick for themselves as well.

Yeah I would not throw in a pick if I was Houston. Taking in that massive contract of Gasol is well my concern. After this year he has what 2 years and 40 plus mil. Gasol is not worth that by any stretch of the imagination. Would like him here but he is owed a **** ton of money. Happy if we do or don't get him. What I really like is that we trade Martin who does not fit this team anymore. In all honestly Martin should be the first to go. Also I would rather have expiring contracts instead.

Now the SF spot Barnes is maybe your only serviceable SF. Artest has been worthless. Ebanks has barely even played. Not even sure if Luke has played any this year or the last but none the less is a waste and that leaves Kapono who just a 3 point specialist.

If the T-wolves really want Martin then I would do Martin for Beasley and fillers plus one of the many first rounders they have.

As a Wolves fan, I truly want nothing to do with Martin. His contract would be pretty restrictive for us and the guy plays zero defense. We BADLY need an upgrade at SG but at 12M a season I would rather use some of our trading chips and apply them towards Eric Gordon on a similar contract. That being said, I would love Courtney Lee. He makes a lot more sense to me.

From the Rocket's perspective, I think Pau makes a ton more sense in HOU than he does in Minnesota. He's been rumored a bit to come here and we just don't have the contracts to ship off to make it worth. If you're trading Martin's 12M for Pau's 19M you aren't taking the same hit as some other teams might. I do think it means that you re-sign Dalembert or his defensive equivalent because Pau can't play the 5 night-in, night-out.

Would the Rockets considering moving Lee? Like I said, I would love him but I'm not sure the Wolves are a good for a trade for him.
