Why Panic? Optimism...

Post#1 » by Zubby » Mon Mar 12, 2012 5:19 pm

The closer we get to the deadline I feel like our team will stand pat again.
At any rate what realistic help is out there for us? Do we really want to go though D12 hell? Or get Gasol who is just couple steps under Boozer on the hate ladder?Turner would be sick but maybe he is a target for the summer :)

Come one guys lets look at all the upside of our current team:

We all know we're gonna go on a huge run right after the trade deadline like we do EVERY year.

Martin will be back mentally after the 16th.

Parsons is already leaps & bounds better than he was 2 weeks ago... Seriously if his shot becomes more consistent and he learns to shoot off the dribble, this guy will be amazing.

Scola is back to being Scola.

Dalembert is playing aggressive.

Lowry always comes back strong, iirc he got hurt last year right before the deadline too.

We got the Euros which X, and a lot of other say are gonna be decent.

We're gonna make the playoffs and that for the best, isn't it.
The way this team is built I like our chances to get in the 2nd round.

I really think we are unappreciative of what we have on this team...

Anyone else wanna add a positive take on the Roster? :)

i dont like how sammy d, who was struggling at the time, called a players only meeting, and we lost 4 games after. i dunno how many times a players only meeting resulted in one of the most pathetic losing streaks, cant be a lot.

maybe the deadline is having a mcuh bigger impact on our team than i think, but if we dont make any helpful trades, i dont think we can make the playoffs. way too inconsistent and 50% effort aint gonna do **** in the west. w/ lowry out 2-4 weeks really hurts our chances. hopefully im wrong. if martin can get his balls back from his dominatrix master, we'd be doing a helluva lot better

im glad as hell that scola didnt follow martins bitch ass. SCOLA IS BACK WHOOOOOOOOO, his turnovers are down. he had a 30/8 game with zero to's . he also plays defense, HE PLAYS DEFENSE11! the only way he'll do it consistnetly is if his team is consistent

I would like to say sorry for my pessimism in advance, but optimism for??? Sometimes I wonder if you guys are interested in stars and championships or good, positive players with intangibles and the 7th and 8th seed. If we were rebuilding I would be more than happy the problem is we're not so I do have a problem. Okay so we go on a run, so what>? Is that going to keep us from being the 2nd worst team in our DIVISION, probably not. I love this team as much as you do and I think we have a lot of young talent but so do a lot of other teams. The difference, their talent is PRODUCING. Teams like Philly and Indiana have young talented teams that are winning games, FANS OF THOSE TEAMS SHOULD BE OPTIMISTIC. If you're saying that realistically there's no help that will get us over the hump fine, but I'm not happy about this team and I shouldn't be, we're in 8th place. How many years is the same speech gonna be okay? "Oh we have good young pieces, wait until next year, we're still developing blah blah blah. Sorry but the 7th or 8th seed isn't my ideal season. Morey needs to start taking risks in the draft. We don't need any more "solid players". We need to start looking at potential because assembling a lot of good average talent has gotten us nowhere...

I ask this one question. Who was the last "Superstar" that we signed as a FA? Please correct me if I am wrong, but it was Scottie Pippen wasn't it?

Francis was a Draft Pick, So was Yao. McGrady was in a trade with Orlando.

That is pretty pathetic. That's what, 1997? or '98?

I am optimistic that we can play really bad, and get a good Draft Pick. I hope New York continues to stink also.

I am pretty sure Martin will be gone come deadline. Scola is a possibility also, as well as Flynn, and Twill. Hopefully Thabeet too.

I predict that Daryl "The Wizard" Morey quiets after failing to aquire, as hes promised, a superstar. He goes to LA, Bos, Mia, Dal, or NY, cause thats were everyone wants to go. :waaa:

Every other thead has the same comments if you honestly hate this team that much that you would to prefer to just see us tank....

STFU & GTFO(I say this lovingly) come back in 5-10 years where maybe we get lucky enough to said "superstar"

I mean how many F*in superstars are there even in the league today? like 3-4?

I mean we are what 2-3 games behind those Philly/Indy teams rocketseagles? Yea they are soooo awesome.

How long did the Bulls wait to get Rose? over a decade? The Clips lucked out w/ Stern. could go on

This is our 1st year without Yao, in a lockout shorten season. Chill the F*ck out, who seriously wants to watch a tank job for the next 1/2 decade?

1st year w/out yao? We weren't good WITH YAO! All I'm asking is how many more years should we say this? Yes the bulls had to wait for rose, yes the clips had to wait for CP3 and Blake. Do you think their fans were optimistic all those years there team was sorry? Beyond that theres a difference, those teams were REBUILDING. We're supposed to be able to win now with this team. I watch every single houston game and I've probably cussed at my tv, thrown more crap and been more pissed off than the majority of our fans so don't try to make me feel like I'm "less of a fan" because I don't want to hear the same speech every year. I'm sorry that I'm not happy about fighting for the 7th and 8th spot every year. In the NBA you either have a great team, a good team with players who haven't reached their potential, or you rebuild. How much more are we REALISTICALLY going to get out of this team? No there aren't that many SUPERSTARS in the league, but w/ the current team we have assembled if we could land one we would probably be one of the best in the west. If I really needed to cheer for superstars and championship teams I doubt I'd be a rockets fan so miss w/ all that....

Can you possibly cry more?
The bitching is tiring all im saying... then you just bitch more?
At this point its just bitching just to bitch, there is no reason for it...
LOL :) i don't get it.

Its not like Morey isn't trying to get one of these Divas you're crying about so much, but on top of it you're pointing to tanking and being like the Clippers who had what TWO winning seasons since mid 80s?

Bulls had 1 winning season since 98, got Rose 11 years later and took another year to make noise... thats what you want? revolving door of lottery picks and ROY's (Brand, Rose, Fizer?, Gordon, Deng, Tyson Chandler, Curry, Williams... etc) AND yes all the while those bulls fans cheered their team, and were happy to have/ be close to having a winning record.

Since that time this team has had (Barkley, Olajuwon, Pippen, Francis, Jefferson, Gay, McGrady, Yao, ) 3 losing seasons

We ARE rebuilding, but we are doing it the Indy 90's way, with a winning record.

I got off the tank train because it is just to late to do it, so I rather try and win as many games as possible. Yes superstar are few and far between and yes Morey has tried to get, which is all you can ask for. You can't trade for one if no team wants to trade with and rather use you as filler. Can't sign one when they don't ant to come to Houston. I would say if you are wanting the team to tank and you will continue to follow makes you a fanatic.

I just hate the idea of winning while rebuilding it has to be one or the other. Astros tried it and failed miserably but the again Morey ain't Ed Wade. Also Morey has come out and said the best way to get that "superstar" is in the draft by tanking but said Les wants to win.

Now a lot of teams that have been mentioned failed because they have the wrong people evaluating talent. I trust Morey when it comes to the draft.

best case scenario
we missed the playoff got the 1st pick with our pick (anthony davis)
ny missed the playoff and we get the 6th pick (jeremy lamb)

lin in cantonese pronounce lam
lam similar to lamb
there we have a chance to get a different version of jeremy lin

You brought up the clippers not me. Once again I cheer for this team every game and every year so miss me w/ all that. Trust me as sick as you are of hearing the bitching I'm sick of hearing the optimism. And who said anything about divas? I didn't even say I wanted a star so bad I just want us to win games. Oh and by the way if people like lebron are people you classify as divas then yes I would like one on our team right away because a team full of shane battier's doesn't win games. Durant isn't a diva, neither is dirk, blake griffin, kevin love, etc. Go ahead and let me know how many teams have rebuilt while winning, don't worry I'll wait....... Rebuilding while winning usually means you don't have a lot of cap space and you're not in the top 5 of your division.... hmmm what do you know thats us.

zapatasblood pretty much summed it up on the 1st page...

You know our stance, wtf you gonna cry over split milk, idk

Anyway rocketseagles, imo Dirk, BG & Love aren't superstars... and if they are then look at this.
We are half game back from DAL, we are ahead of Minn.. and LAC would be in lottery w/o CP3... If we had BG I doubt we would be tearing the league up.

Bron, Howard, Rose, maybe Paul are the only superstars.

Return to Houston Rockets
