I like this trade.
Jordan Hill didn't really have a future here and altough Fisher isn't all that anymore, but he'll be OK for the few weeks Lowry's gonna miss.
Fisher has a player option of $3.4M for next season he most likely will exercise, but that's OK, too, as we get compensated with a 1st.
Fisher might actually be a good locker room presence as well.

Question on Hill, I know he's athletic but the important thing in the Laker system is that he can run P-R and pick-pop. Can he that jumper he hit in college?

Congrats Houston fans. You'll almost certainly buy out Fisher with Lowry/Dragic on the roster, so essentially you've traded a backup big who didn't play much for a 1st round pick in a very deep draft, likely adding another useful young piece to your already impressive young roster. Top work from your FO.
I'm feelin' the love now that Dwight has opted in!

Hill has terrible hands, so he's not great as the roll man. He'll hit the jumper now and then, but it's not consistent.
What he does well is rebounding. That's what he's good at.
He has improved in the post, but he's still not somebody you just dump the ball to.

In L.A. he will basically be the roll man so he'll have to improve in that regard. Most of the time though L.A. runs pick and pop primarily with Troy Murphy but he's really started to suck as the year has gone on. Hill has potential I suppose.
A lot of Laker fans are said about Fisher (not about his play though). The Lakers just improved dramatically in non-crunch time minutes with him out.

The pick is top 20 protected right? So we need to hope mavs go on a run...I felt dirty just typing that
And god I hate fisher! Hopefully he retires after this season or he doesnt opt in or we buy him out

This is awesome for the draft pick alone... I can see us packaging it one or both of these picks to move up..

I like this trade. L.A. gets a far better piece for right now, and we get a far better piece for rebuilding with a stopgap. Good stuff.
Also we get to cut Fisher, who while he really seems to be one of the NBA's good guys, has Kobe stench on him.
It's like an exorcism.
Am I the only one who remembers Fisher prominently from his episode on Hangin with Mr. Cooper?
I used to be really bored around 5pm.

Morey, u genius dog! U did it again! we get to keep our useless on defense PF, and our chicken little offensive score at will KMart and still were able to acquire 38 year young Marcus Camby and a team leader star PG Derek Fisher! NBA take notice, Finals here we come!! Look at us now David Stern, jealous much!!??

Alot of people here hating on this but w/e they do with fisher its a great deal by morey. 1st rd is worth more then hill alone. Most people on here prob dont watch lakers games all that much but I watch alot of them living in california and being a rockets fans. Fisher is a vet, a winner and he makes big shots. mgmt might have other plans. Glad hill is gone tho
