We should offer Hibbert a Max Deal this offseason

I think that it would be a good idea.
I am basing this on the belief that Indy would match it. I think that they'll match anything Hibbert is offered. Big Men get paid, and Big Men with actual skills are at a premium.
Do this to tie up more of Indy's salary so that they cannot throw ridiculous money at Lee or Dragic.

Interesting, out of the box thought, but I'd rather not take that risk.
Also, barring a trade, just to create the cap space needed to sign Hibbert to an offer-sheet, we'd have to waive Dalembert and renounce Lee's bird rights.
So, no, let's not offer Hibbert the max.

damn....
OK, so we need to get someone else to do it!

I just see Indy as a team who might try to price Lee out of our range. I don't want to see that happen.

I think Indy is more so a threat to sign Dragic than Lee, but ya, I, too, am worried about losing one of the two for nothing.

are u forgetting that indy has Paul George at SG? they'd be more interested in Dragic at PG

i dont think we have to worry about lee going to indy. they got george. maybe dragic, since hill's a qualifying offer and their other pgs are expiring. i dont think they'll be aggressive in going after them

A couple things:
1.) Hibbert doesn't want to be here according to an article written on Clutchfans. Apparently he was insulted that when we had Yao/Deke he might *gasp* have to spend some time in the D-League.
2.) Without amnestying someone, we would have to let Dragic, Lee and probably Dally walk to make it happen.
3.) Hibbert is good, not great. He is a 9-11 million dollar player at max. Maybe if he spend some time in the D-league he would of been better.

Hibbert is worth more than 9-11 mil, thats what Deandre Jordan got and hibbert is better than him. Anyways the max is too much but Indy is going to match no matter what. I don't see indy signing dragic when they have collison and hill, lee is a possibility but he's definitely not gonna star over george and he will probably get starter money for some team that really needs a sg. I would love to sign him but this is like the gasol situation, we know they're not gonna let him walk regardless of the price

I'm going to agree with Lars, Hibbert is good, but not great. His rebounding has become slightly above average, but his shooting is below average and he doesn't hit enough FTs to make up for it.
Oh, and he's 25. Can you say, PEAKED?

Dikembe was a 25 year old rookie in 1991.
Sam Cassell was a 24 year old rookie in 1993.
You can still get better after 25. Not saying Hibbert will though.

We 'offended' him by saying we would draft him and send him to the D-League. Don't think he'd want to come here.
I'm happy he turned out well, pity not for us.

Did I not make my point clear in the first post?
I don't want him here at the max....I want to force Indy into paying more for him than they would want.

Lots of risk there, though. Also, I don't think Bird is the GM anymore, is the new one as dumb as he was?

I don't know, what's the new GMs name?
If Houston doesn't have full capspace to offer him the max, betting on another team offering him close to the max seems like the best strategy. Unless they want to add Hibbert off course.
About Dragic, I think it will all depend on how quickly players like Nash and Deron let the Pacers now they aren't interested in playing for them. If they show any kind of interest, it could open up opportunities for other teams to pursue Dragic as one of their first options. Humans like to be first choice.
I like Dragic a lot as a player, but the Pacers biggest need is a player better than all the ones they have right now. If Dragic re-signs with Houston, we can still try to trade for him or Lowry.
Add Eric Gordon as well as one of the players we could wait on.
Just my two cents.

Exactly. You guys have the same problem we do w/ more talent, we don't have a position we're bad @ we just need to upgrade at a lot of the spots.
