Who on this team - players, coaches, staff, front office, etc - should be violently thrown on this bandwagon? My candidates:
1) Kevin "Herky-Jerky-Bones-Rattling-Arms-Flailing-Cant-Dribble-Between-His-Legs" Martin
2) Kevin "I have a raging hard on Patrick Patterson" McH(F)ail
I dunno how long this thread will last but im still pissed at how things turned out.

I'd add Patterson on the list too. I know he's getting surgery in the off-season, which might explain all of his struggles this season, but w/ Motiejunas likely coming over, and the fact that I almost nearly cringe when McHale puts him in (perhaps it's McHale that has made me turn so much on Patterson??), I would rather not see him in a Rockets uniform than in one next season.
Edit - I do think reflecting back on my other posts that I'm being too hard on him, but then I think what does he really do for our team? He doesn't rebound, he doesn't add versatility, he's a poor finisher, his mid ranger has gone streaky, and just doesn't have the size. Maybe if he can play w/ a center at all times, I might like him more -- which isn't his fault really.

Wow.
Patterson has a beast of a rookie year, plays second year hurt and and under a new coach, you are ready to get rid of him?
The "what have you dont for me lately" attitude that Rocket fans adopt is extremely disturbing.
You never ever get rid of young guys before thier 3rd year, because it is statisitically proven the biggest steps forward happen between year 2 and 3.

If they move Patterson I wouldn't see it as being disappointed in him (this season had a lot working against him); but rather the Rockets selling high on a young player.

Agree with Lars on this.
I don't see Patterson moved. It just wouldn't make any sense.

Wow. You must think Patterson really sucks if you think trading him now would be selling high.

Also, Kevin Martin.

Quite the opposite. I don't think that this season hurt his value considering the negative factors involved. I think that most GM's still see him as a good guy on a good contract who just had an off-year because of nagging injuries.

Fair enough.
I think while that may be case (GM's still thinking that he's a good player), I simply doubt that you'll be able to fetch much for Patterson (not enough to justify trading him, anyway) after the season he's had.
That's just not the way it works. Opposing GM's will use every little thing they can find to devalue your player during negotiations, whereas Morey will ask for the world himself, like he always does.

Yeah, that's true. It would be best to hold onto him.
I think that he's on the list of players least likely to be traded along with Parsons and Motiejunas.

Wow.
Patterson has a beast of a rookie year, plays second year hurt and and under a new coach, you are ready to get rid of him?
Yes.
I'd like to preface by saying that a lot of this is probably out of frustration of how the season ended, but Patterson really annoyed me w/ his play this season.
I get what you are all saying; I'm prob too harsh on him since it isn't his fault McHale played him out of position, and that I'm probably downplaying the extent of his injury; but he was absolutely TERRIBLE this past season, and I'd rather develop Motiejunas behind Scola than hope he "gets it" just because it's his third year.
I don't know if people realize that Patterson was horrible all season long. If we want to pin his poor play on his injury, he shouldn't have been playing at all. He doesn't get to the FT line, is a poor finisher around the rim, and was ridiculously inefficient. He doesn't have the size, nor patience in the post, and not particularly great defensively. He's a very poor rebounder, and doesn't have the ability to face up and put pressure on the defense by taking it to the rim. What exactly positive did he display? You know only two big man in the entire NBA had a below 12.0 TRB%, and under .480 TS% while playing at least 20 MPG? That was Patterson, and Kenyon Martin, whom at least is a terrific rotational defender.
His rookie year was better obviously, because a.) he wasn't posting up, and b.) being used offensively that maximized his efficiency -- the mid range jumper, primarily. He also had more bounce in his elevation his rookie year, so, yes, I wouldn't expect him to be close to the version he was this season; but even in his rookie year, he showed mediocre rebounding ability, with solid offensive and defensive arsenal. I think he showed terrific role player potential; but I don't know if I saw anything that screamed "star" that would make me forget what he did this past season - and someone that could potentially prolong the development of a guy like Donatas, whom I personally believe has a higher ceiling.
However; saying this, I agree with the idea that trading him now would likely be selling short of what his potential is since he did show current David West sort potential in his rookie season -- and that's not something Morey would entertain (though, I'm sure he could get something that would be worthwhile). But as for how excited I am for Patterson next season, none at all, because assuming Scola is still w/ the team (possible he isn't), and Donatas coming over, w/ Camby likely coming back as well -- I'd rather see him moved for something else, granted a right deal came along.

Wondering how Mike D'Antoni would do coaching this team
Patterson had a few good moments (game saving block) but yeah he had a poor sophomore season. Seeing Carl Landry tear him up only magnified it.

Ironically you have Hasheem Thabeet as your signature image.

McFail had been doing a good job until the last 6 or 7 games of the season, so I'd be willing to let him go one more year at least...
On the other hand:
- Martin needs to be gone!
- Patterson needs more time
- Scola can go either way and I won't care
- I'd rather Kwame Brown coaching us before Mike Dantoni gets to coach this team

Morey & McHale will be back. I think that you're wasting time discussing otherwise with those two.
Like many of us have said - everyone is on the table. I will not be surprised to see us do a very Un-Morey like move in order to get Kevin Martin out of here as I do think that he's completely on the outs with management.
I do think that Lee and Parsons are locks to be back next season, and I believe that they're going to do everything to retain Dragic.
Lowry and Scola will be shopped heavily.
Just how I see it now.
